  1. I could see him going the Houston Nutt route and jumping from one to the other to thoroughly torch the bridges, with a little drama and litigation sprinkled in.
  2. Of course he isn't turning down an SEC offer to come here, but nobody is saying that. (Especially for Kiffin.) But many promising careers have died on the field at Ole Miss and Arkansas and their ilk. Honestly I think it would be easier to rebuild USF and use that as a springboard to a tier-1 job than to win a NC with one of the middling SEC teams that come with their own built-in issues. Again, though, nobody is suggesting he would turn down those offers to come here. But I would bet a huge amount of money that if USF offered him and he felt like that was his best option, he'd be gone like Tuberville at a recruit dinner.
  3. You are operating under the false assumption that it will be the same level of difficulty for him to make the jump from FAU to an upper tier SEC school vs. from USF to an upper tier SEC school. I disagree with the premise. If he comes to USF and wins 10-11 games in back to back years, he will get a strong P5 offer (see Taggart, Willie). And while he can certainly parlay the FAU job into a great opportunity (e.g. Arkansas), he needs to show more to get into the upper echelon. Also this isn't just anybody, it's Lane Kiffin. Generic football coach would not be in this position to begin with because they aren't a borderline sociopath (or at least not as obvious about it).
  4. Re: Kiffin: Of course Torello is just a **** stirrer, so who knows. I can't believe people on this board are saying "why would Kiffin go to USF?" The guy is a desperate striver who has been injecting himself into every opening in the past two years to try to get back to the top. Despite how far we have fallen we are still much better positioned than FAU and any reasonable person can see that. I mean, come on. That said, its obvious he only cares about himself so he'd drop us like a hot potato if he was offered a P5 job.
  5. This is the only thing going on at the moment, so there is no reason to try to condense it down to one thread, which will only make it HARDER to find stuff.
  6. Pepsi or Diet Pepsi? If it’s diet we have a code green. I repeat we have a code green.
  7. Absent a Leavitt reconciliation (which seems unlikely), literally none of the other candidates are guaranteed to stay, so I don't get why this is even a consideration.
  8. I assume its been there since long before his commitment. He is the son of former USF player Quinton Callum according to an old TBP post.
  9. FSU won't try to renege even if they never signed--any lawyer would love to take that case because FSU would lose and lose hard. But if they do, and Willie wants some representation to get a chunk of his 18 million, I'm happy to provide it at a heavily discounted rate. Especially if he wants to donate it to USF. Hit me up Willie.
  10. I don’t want him as a HC but he would be great in an advisory role or consultant or something. Think of the synergy.
  11. The hottest coaching search this week is in Tamplona. They've got everything: a cardboard cutout of Tony Elliott with Jeff Scott on the other side, Willie Taggart's old bus, Rich Bisaccia standing on top of Joey Knight's shoulders dressed in a trenchcoat like in an old movie, some guy named Drinkwitz, Lane Kiffin's ex-wife, Donnie Abraham trying to sneak past the bouncer, a message board poster who lived with Larry Scott, and an angry toddler dressed like Jim Leavitt who slaps everyone who doesn't dance fast enough.
  12. On top of that, he is now set for life financially. Much different situation than when he left the first time.
  13. If we were to rehire Taggart, he might not be a lifer, but I think he would be pretty discerning in looking at other openings since he's done the dance once and at least has it under his belt. What do I know though.
  14. I have no interest in Kiffin for reasons that should be obvious to everyone. Taggart makes almost too much sense not to happen, especially since I anticipate the bigger names saying no like Josh suggests. I also agree that it would be great to get someone who has really done great things with a "lesser program," but the structural changes in college football (e.g. P5, etc.) and more frequent openings has made that type of hire more difficult for a program like USF. Almost everyone we are realistically looking at has some question marks.
  15. Good info. I miss when Josh was more involved with USF.
  16. Just reached out, waiting for JK to tweet about my interest in the HC job.
  17. Some of these guys throwing their hats in the ring borders on insulting. Yeah, USF may not be what it was, but come on. One year as a position coach at a middling program? No **** he's interested in the job. I'm also interested if they want to give me a call.
  18. I have no real opinion on whether Scott is the right guy for the job yet, but his relationship with USF and the area goes much deeper than your post lets on, and much deeper than Willie's was at WKU and the area.
  19. This is exactly the point. Sure, past performance is not a perfect predictor. But we don't have a crystal ball, so it will have to do...
  20. Yes: https://gousfbulls.com/watch/?Live=200&type=Live They are already done with his statement and into Q&A. Nothing new.
  21. No search firm. Guess that practice left with Judy. It did always seem like lining pockets for people who didn't contribute much. Search started "last night." No other new info.
  22. I don't know what to expect. Joey's tweet about Bassacia ("I'm sure Michael Kelly will discuss that name and all candidates (or not) at today's 11:30 presser.") didn't make any sense either. Why would the AD hold a presser to discuss the candidates and potential coaching hires? Especially naming names? That would be bizarre. I wish this team had legit coverage like the old days.
