  1. And I'm in the camp that we should have someone more skilled at that position instead of Auggie, but there's no denying that he is a valuable leader for us. We could have used some of that during the dark days.
  2. From Joey's Day 1 camp column: "If we go out there and take San Jose (State) lightly...you were here for McNeese State?" -- Sanchez, offering a rhetorical response to a question about the Bulls battling overconfidence this season
  3. +1. That's why schools fall all over track stars. I remember when I was living in Gainesville, Urban Meyer issued a standing edict that anyone who could beat Percy Harvin in a footrace would automatically get a scholarship.
  4. Right, this is a way of the NC legislature saying "we can pass whatever bills we want, and if you ever boycott again, we will force state schools out of the ACC". Of course they are just posturing, it's stupid. Guess these folks in the NC legislature have nothing more important to worry about than what is in peoples' pants.
  5. I think it's the other way around - it was the ACC (and NCAA) who refused to host games in NC after the bill was passed, and this is an attempt at a threat by the legislature to scare the ACC away from doing that in the future.
  6. The team has been good in the past. There is no reason for the current state of the program.
  7. If this guy can just catch the ball reliably, he's an upgrade over 90% of the players we've had at the position in the last decade.
  8. Either him or Masiello. Not a great start for Harlan given his BB roots.
  9. I hear you, but I'd rather go with some of the outside the box suggestions I've seen floated here than the names that are circulating from the press.
  10. Names that are being floated by the press are very unexciting.
  11. Crean would be a home run but hard to imagine there wouldn't be more attractive options for him.
  12. If it was missing a jury duty notice or something, I get it. But given the structure of the criminal justice system in Florida, it was highly unlikely he was not aware of this charge. I still think it's not the end of the world, but it's not like this is something that just happened to him - he created the issue to begin with.
  13. As long as they tell him that they are actually hiring to win. Apparently that needs to be made clear to him at the outset.
  14. Only reason it concerns me at all is that it wasn't a single isolated incident - he (allegedly) committed the (admittedly minor) crime, but then even after time to think about it, made the problem even worse by failing to appear. Multiple instances like that start looking like a pattern. Certainly not the end of the world, especially considering all of the other awful stuff that people skate on. Hopefully he has learned from that. Would be a huge, huge get.
  15. I think he comes off as pretty obnoxious in that article. I can understand him feeling that way, and he's not necessarily wrong, but saying "who would have ever imagined that beating our rivals was important", after getting canned for underperformance, is pretty eye-roll-worthy. Dude, you were below .500 your last two years. Total lack of self awareness - the person who has terrible relationships with everyone, and then goes on and on about how everyone is an *******. Hey, maybe you're the problem? Not to get to down on that as an option, because he may very well be the best option. But come on bro.
  16. He (allegedly) failed to appear in court related to a hit and run. So, definitely not nothing.
  17. Prelim rankings have him as the No. 7 OG for the 2018 NFL draft (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/prospectrankings/2018/OG ). Hard to understate how big of a pull this would be if we snagged him. I imagine we are a pretty attractive target, unless a powerhouse team guarantees him a starting spot all year.
  18. In my opinion, it's virtually impossible for a LB framed kid to just eat his way into a DT spot. Maybe a rushing end, down linebacker, or some other variant, but DT? Especially if they want to run a 3-3-5, just doesn't happen. Unfortunately we really only have 1 legit DT on the roster so we just have to make do. Would have been awfully nice if we could have gotten someone in order replace Calloway when he washed out.
  19. I agree. Trying to put a linebacker at DT sounds like a recipe for disaster. It could very well be that they want him to have the technique down to serve as a backup or a passing down guy. Hope that's the case. Also hope our JUCO DE gets here quick.
  20. We are masquerading someone small at the position. Have been doing it for some time now. We are desperately thin at DL, especially DT. Short of bringing in more players (which they are trying to do, clearly) - what else can you do?
