  1. We're here with ya. A small slice of Tampa in a sea of cheap concrete
  2. Jose Fernandez has quietly been coaching very high quality teams with sustained success for 20 years now. He's a baller!
  3. I hate the slime green. I miss Leavitt's attitude. No gimmicks. Classic, traditional football uniforms and colors. Play like a real football team, look like a real football team while doing it. Off colors are just gimmicks, and ESPECIALLY when we're not playing well, it doesn't reflect well. Sure, I get the argument that the team should get a little leeway to show some swagger if putting up wins, but I would still rather we got back to that old school smashmouth attitude. We don't need gimmicky colors, we just smash mouths and hand out losses to opponents.
  4. Love Jennings. He always comes and slaps high fives with the fans after the game. Thanks us. He's a great dude. Hope he's okay
  5. I also got section 234 row 19. Super annoyed with UCF for putting away team fans there, especially when we give them lower bowl sections. Anyone interested to band together and buy tix in the middle of UCiF homers and create controversy? Does anyone have tickets in any section besides 234? Just wondering whether they broke us up into 2 separate sections again like last time.
  6. Just copying the event info for the usual plans for Black Friday in Orlando. Those who have made the trek to MouseTown before know we Bulls throw down in a big way ahead of our matchup in the Erector Set they call a "stadium". We will carry on the tradition of big-time tailgating ahead of our Black (Green) Friday showdown in lots B10 & B11 which is free parking and far enough from the diploma mill that we generally don't risk vandalism to our cars via UCF fans. We have NEVER lost a tailgate. We may lose the game, although if the Cincy game was any indication, our Bulls still have some legit fight left in 'em. This will be our bowl game. So let's invade UCF and turn lots B10 & B11 GREEN AND GOLD like we do every away game there, and enjoy a little pregame together. I can bring a small grill, though I'd rather someone else man it and we arrange what to bring in advance (below in comments if anyone interested), so we can make some hot eats. Of course we will have beerpong, cornhole, flipcup, and all the usual suspects. Location: Lots B10 & B11, across Libra from the UCF water tower, just before the intersection of Libra with Gemini road. Reportedly, lots open 6 hours before kickoff (TBA), so theoretically 1pm for 7pm game, but will depend on game time. We want everyone to try to get there as early as possible to secure the lots for USF fans. UCF fans can be notoriously....difficult....the closer you get to the stadium/campus center, which is why we go a bit out of the way and make our own party. Look for my yellow Ram SRT-10, 3 USF flags including a stars & stripes USF flag on a 30-foot flagpole, and two 8-foot blow-up Rockys. Would love to see Bullspenners there, as always! 7. Nah, they refused to let me join in 2001 when I was a freshman. I know the original two guys, they're great dudes and still see them around. But the mistake they made was insisting they keep it to only two, and expecting the two they chose as incoming freshman would be able to keep it up all 4 years no matter what. At some point, I'm sure, priorities changed for someone at some point in their education, and there have been lots of years there were no Green N Gold Guys painting up. Whereas, when I was refused membership to join because I came in a year too early (I was a freshman when they were seniors, so they wanted to hand off to two incoming freshmen a year later), I decided to make a group anyone could join and didn't force any single person to be there every game no matter what. The Beef Studs had as many as 300 on the active roster somewhere in those 2007-2009 years. The Beef Studs as a group havent missed a game since 2002, which is why I am surprised the Green N Gold Guys get recognized as a tradition by the Alumni Association despite missing an awful lot of years... but the Beef Studs are only mentioned under their heading. Hoping at some point that will get swapped out
  8. I started that, haha. They have not done it recently, but I have planted the idea
  9. They don't make a vaccine for gonorrhea yet... I predicted us to get 4 wins at the beginning of the season. We lost one that should have been a win, and lost another that could have but wasn't a razor-thin margin. I would stick with my original expectation we beat Tulane and that's it from here out. UCF will ride into the big 12 having beaten us soundly 5 times in a row... and ahead on the series overall...
  10. Yes, a large group of us usually tailgates in lot B10 & B11, which appear to be "Closed" in the map that footnfan1 posted above, but "free parking" in the one bull2saintleo posted below, which I tend to believe is correct - we have never had to pay to park there. Yes, it is out of the way, and a bit of a hike. But it guarantees we can have a nice little party all to ourselves without exposing us to the *terrible* shenanigans of UCF fans drunken and sober from over the years. There is MUCH lower risk of your vehicle being vandalized upon your return. It also means Bulls fans can arrive in staggered fashion and still park with other Bulls fans, as opposed to being broken up by a bunch of UCF fans that arrive between USF fans arriving. 11. A palette of school spirit Alum Brandon Faza, along with his friend Ryan Capahi, noticed two... A palette of school spirit October 31, 2021 8:18 pmby Lanie De La Milera, STAFF WRITER Alum Brandon Faza, along with his friend Ryan Capahi, noticed two men at USF football games in 2002 painted in the school’s colors calling themselves “The Green and Gold Guys,” and were interested in joining them. After being notified it was more of a two-man show and not being satisfied with the answer, they decided to create their own group, a team of rowdy USF fans willing to paint their bodies green and gold in an effort to support the football team. “[Capahi] and I debated what to call ourselves,” Faza said. “We wanted it to be related to USF or Bulls. My dad is a large animal veterinarian, and all the cattle owners have the ‘BEEF’ license plates, so I suggested we use beef for part of the name. “Ryan suggested beef steaks or beefcakes, then I said ‘Those don’t sound very studly’ … So then we decided on Beef Studs. Later, when girls joined, we realized we had to make the name more inclusive, so then it became the Beef Studs and Babes.” Faza and Capahi approached Stuart Silverman, the dean of the Honors College at the time, who gave the group their first $50 to buy paint. Not long after, the group developed a following, and away it went. The Beef Studs and Babes, currently led by co-presidents Gaby Arias and Miranda Maldonado, are still going strong with participating members from both current students and alumni. Getting “painted up” is something anyone can do, whether it be just a one-time thing or a full-time commitment. Dedicated to amplifying the game day experience, the Beef Studs and Babes are present at every home game in support of the Bulls through all the highs and lows. “My initial reaction [when I saw the Beef Studs and Babes was,] ‘Oh my goodness, this is such a fun group,’” Arias said. “Personally, I like watching football, but the moment I started getting painted up, it was just a completely different experience. “I’m the type of person that likes to get up and get loud, and a lot of times people just kind of sit around at the game and don’t do that much, but with the Beef Studs, it gives me the opportunity to be loud and be crazy and have fun. It’s what we’re supposed to do.” The front row seats in the student section at Raymond James Stadium are sectioned off for the Beef Studs and Babes so they can show their support in the fullest sense. The most important mission of the members is to create a fun and exciting atmosphere for others to emulate. Whether it be by jumping around to energize those around them, or rooting for the Bulls audibly, the Beef Studs and Babes make their presence felt. “I think we have a huge impact,” current Beef Stud Kyle Muffoletto said. “Just seeing other people as hyped [as] the front row people will create [a] more competitive atmosphere … You can see everyone’s beaming, and then basically the stadium’s loud and the whole football team hears and I think it has a huge effect.” Arias said the Beef Studs and Babes have an impact on those on the football team’s roster, no matter how great or poor the attendance is. “No matter if there’s only like 10 fans at the game or there’s like 100, we’re there regardless,” Arias said. “I know the players definitely love our support. After every game we win, they come and high-five us and they thank us for all our support. “I definitely know it makes them feel appreciated.” To be a Beef Stud or Babe, it starts with going to their tailgate tent before entering the stadium to get painted up. They’ll take green, gold and white paint and make a bulls logo stencil in the center of their chest with a green stripe down the middle, as well as adding gold on their sides with a paintbrush. The traditional style has been kept intact since the first Beef Studs and Babes appearance in 2002. Once in the game, the Beef Studs and Babes sit in their designated first row and cheer on the Bulls. While there, the group must stay standing during the entirety of the game, except for halftime. Committed members are not allowed to use their phones so they are ready for the next play. Booing of any kind is also frowned upon, as the Studs and Babes like to maintain a positive attitude. There are also a few traditions to follow during the game. On third downs, one will yell “Bulls, what is your profession?” and the rest will yell back with a “Woo, woo.” When the team scores, someone from the group will be lifted into the air for as many points scored. The tailgates put together pregame are of no charge to any student looking to participate in the festivities. “Our tailgate is completely free to students,” Arias said. “All the food, all the drinks, everything. We just ask that they show up and get painted and they can just participate in our tailgate. “Or if they’re part of their own tailgate and just want to come by and get painted, they can do that.” The Beef Studs and Babes have also recently partnered with Student Bulls Club, so the group receives funding for its events from Athletics and Student Government, according to Arias. While the group brings life and energy to the fans and players, it also has benefits to the members themselves. Maldonado said the experience allowed her to make new connections and gave her a place to fit into the USF community early in her collegiate life. “When I was a freshman, like the first game [I was going to,] one of the old members posted in the Facebook group that you can come tailgating and paint up,” Maldonado said. “I was like, ‘Okay, I’m new here from out of state, I didn’t really have any friends … I’ll go to this, that sounds like fun.’ “So I went and it ended up being super fun. I quickly became friends with some other people that were painting up. I [would] say this [experience] just makes me more proud of showing how much spirit [I have and] makes me glad I chose to come here.” As the Beef Studs and Babes approach their 20-year anniversary next year, they’ll look to continue growing and leaving a mark on the university. “I hope someday to be an old Bulls fan at USF football games, looking over at the student section and seeing the Beef Studs and Babes still keeping it crazy and showing pride for the green and gold,” Faza said. 12. Didn't see my email til after my shift ended around 9pm. Renewed, though likely too late to be in the first 200. While I love jerseys, the Bulls fan in me hopes more than 200 renewed within 6 hours of that email going out
  13. Couldn't agree more. I am very unimpressed thus far with Weis Jr. and despite seeing improvements elsewhere, I am concerned that the learning curve is delayed for Weis as a VERY young, inexperienced playcaller. He makes sometimes inexplicable decisions which don't seem to match or take advantage of the actual talent on the field and the script of the game. If we don't see some magical progress later this year, I don't know that I would support sticking with him for much longer. I understand trying to grow young talent, but I am not seeing impressive signs of innovation here...
  14. I predicted a 4-win season this summer. Every game so far has gone as I expected. 4 wins would be progress, even if not fast enough for all on this board.
  15. Those were fun times. Already a small club to have gone to that game! Shoot, that game is the reason I have a passport. Glad we're fellow Iron Bull freshmen! At some point we should get a BullsPen avatar for Iron Bulls
  16. That's awesome! I just moved from that area. Have a friend who taught there for a long time, wondered if you knew him - J Mellinger? I think he was faculty for student government and stuff like that so may not have crossed paths as much with coaches
  17. Nah he said $15k over 10 yearsper seat. 1500/seat would be 3000/yr for 2 seats. I agree, may be too steep for many. Perhaps 1k/yr for 10 yrs. 5k seats at 10k/seat is 50 million. Enough for a lead gift but I presume most lead gifts depend on donors pitching in after that, and the fan base would be tapped at that point.
  18. However, what if 5k seats sold at a contract of $1500/year for 10 years... Would be 75 million. May be enough for a lead gift? We'd call it USF Donors' Stadium since we'd all be paying for it
  19. I love that idea. Trouble is, it assumes 45k sellout and people will pay for RayJay seats AND future OCS seats until it is built. I could see maybe 5k people doing that, its an extra 1500/year/seat. I would do it but it would be hard for everyone to reach for that
