  1. Would be happy with Deion, though of course it would be obvious he would be on lease from FSU and gone the first solid season. Would mean VPMK would need to maintain a running list of candidates for the inevitable moment he bounces.
  2. People listen to BTLS? People... not in the 90s?!?
  3. Yeah, the guy who was privately committed to Jim Leavitt at USF before it was all ruined... Strong hadn't convinced him to go to rhe Ville until a while after Leavitt was fired.
  4. Ok so what is it? I don't play wordle. I supplement my vocabulary via perusing the spectacular grandiloquence of such characters as Smazza, Puc, and Bull Nut (really just love Bull Nut's name).
  5. Leavitt's players and residual culture beat those teams. Holtz was smart to avoid making wholesale changes, but I would say the wins were while he was at the helm. The team was left in much worse shape as Leavitt's players graduated and Holtz was recruiting like he was in the MEAC. Please do not bring the Holtz New Error back.
  6. I sucked miserably at this quiz, for having never missed a game in the series, haha.
  7. I woule very much prefer if the next coach was NOT a sleeper. Leavitt never slept. The rest slept soundly and often. Would prefer a machine. Work ethic even I would envy. Too few have it these days, especially because they all know they're gonna get paid whether they win or lose.
  8. Mine too. Theta. I may or may not have the sign that was on the front of the building from right before they bulldozed it....
  9. If our defense holds UCF to anywhere near 14 points per quarter, I will be truly impressed.
  10. I feel like something terrible must have happened in your USF past to cause you to foment so much vitriol. Did you get a 3.99 GPA at USF? Did you get a 2nd place finish for Homecoming King? Did they bulldoze your dorm after you left so you can't visit anymore? Did you lose a campaign for student body president by 1 vote? Whatever it is, mate, we'll get through it together. I've got a bottle of Jack with your name on it.
  11. Immediate splash of a name is not nearly as important as runs of splahes in the future, such as big wins, conference championships, and other accolades one may consider "making a splash."
  12. Not for long, with the product on the court....
  13. Immediate splash not nearly as important as ultimate runs of splashes, IMHO.
  14. Agreed. Would want MK to take all the time he needs. In addition, coaches may or may not want to be interviewing at this point in the season with plenty of uncertainty this time of year regarding records and employment yet to be determined. Last hire it seemed MK probably made a beeline for an excellent candidate profile. May be a bit wary on coordinators without HC experience, may not. But either way, lots of dominoes to fall still, and early action gives plenty of time to field and engage with possibly interested parties. While a beeline could be successful, wouldn't hold it against MK for maximizing time to field interest, vet candidates, and make the best pick possible. Not a drawback to take his time at all.
  15. Hasn't he run out of organs to blame when he takes over a job, knows he's trashed everything, and needs an exit to avoid the embarrassment of being around for the later fruits of his labor?
  16. My top 2 which will never be hired are Jim Leavitt and Deion Sanders. So in absence of either of those, how about these ideas for debate: Jon Sumrall Curt Cignetti Jeff Traylor Shawn Clark
  17. Oh boy I can't disagree more with this list. Why don't you add the gap-toothed obnoxious jackwagon from Rutgers, Greg Schiano? Then he can chop and fake kneel our way to to the perennial Bottom 10... not that we would have to do much but stay on track to stay there. I see has-beens, couldn't-hack-its, and bad apples on that list. Simmons is about the only one I would give a shot to. Briles has the possible look of a HC in the making, but hasn't proven much yet with stops almost every year somewhere new and no sustained success anywhere. Would let that one go somewhere else and prove something first. I would take Dan Mullen before I'd take any of those on that list, and you won't find me stumping for Dan Mullen outside the Athletics building.
  18. I don't see a year on that graphic. What are the chances we could argue it's 2025?
  19. I like Da Prato. Love his social media energy too. Not sure whether his chops are ready to bite off HC, but he's got lots to like about him.
  20. I would add: 1) Strong vested interest in USF Athletics and USF the university 2) Demonstrates interest in the history and identity of the program, and works to build it back up rather than ensure the spotlight is only wide enough for them (avoid something like Willie T "it's all about me") 3) Ability and interest to socialize with and shmooze donors, potential donors, Tampa leaders and corporations to help continue to ingratiate USF Athletics with stakeholders in Tampa Bay 4) Ideally, but more of a want - can see themselves sticking around for more than 3-4 years to build something great here, rather than seeing USF solely as a stepping stone. Very difficult to find that, but I think we could find the money to keep a coach who wins here and gets overtures from outside the program
  21. Can we delay kickoff? Perhaps until 2025, we might have our ish together by then...
  22. Never read that, but Judy used to say it in person regularly. I also let her know I was hoping she would not fire Leavitt and let's just say that philosophy made itself known again. I am sure someone would have quoted her sometime or had to be recorded somewhere since it wasn't exactly a secret and she said it from time to time.
  23. My short list consists of Jim Leavitt and Deion Sanders. I have zero doubt the next coach will be neither of them, but one can dream.
