  1. Judy Genshaft used to say privately that only 2 things brought down a university president... docs and jocks. She was absolutely protecting her own job from scrutiny by firing Leavitt. Why else would USF pay the former FBI director to investigate? Insulating JG from any blame. She played the situation well for herself... less well for USF Athletics.
  2. Your mom is responsible for this mess. She birthed you, then you became a USF football fan and BDSM enthusiast. Blame your mom!
  3. Love y'all. But any balls we have left will be completely crushed Thanksgiving weekend. Orlando will be serving Rocky Beach Oysters instead of turkey leftovers...
  4. Jesus who cares, we're gonna get our balls crushed. I can't watch. I have been to every single USF vs. UCF football game ever played. It hurts horribly to know we won't even sniff a competitive game. Huge difference from the first 4-5 games, when the idea of losing to C was unthinkable.
  5. I wish we would involve CJL more with USF.
  6. I wanted The Jim back this past hiring cycle...
  7. As many excuses as there are contributing to losses, I just can't see a defense for the poor game and clock management. It hasn't gotten any better. It screams a coaching staff is aloof and disconnected. Definitely not dialed in. That is something which should be optimized no matter what else happens.
  8. I recommend giving them credit - they have not given up. Every final drive, they finish as strong as they can. Still made good tackles on the final drives of every game so far. Whether they are suffering from terrible playcalling is another issue, but players' individual efforts have still been there and they aren't mailing it in.
  9. Trying to become a comedian? Just tell the crowd you're a USF fan! USF Football: ugly enough to make onions cry.
  10. "We drink Brawndo, the success mutilator!" "No worries, Scrote! There's plenty of 'tards out there livin' kick@$$ lives. You could coach football at USF!" "We shoot ourselves in the foot so often you'll want to invest in kevlar boots" University of $h!tty Football Dear Abby, can you save the tens and tens of USF football fans left from slitting their wrists? USF Bulls Football: making other teams look exceptionally good since SlapGate USF Bulls Football: its like a dog taking a dump. It's hard to look away but you feel like an idiot for watching. "Need to lose IQ points? Watch our coordinators' playcalls to learn how to hemorrhage them!" Got Fail? Stupid Is As Stupid Does: Just Watch USF Football USF Football: we're as successful as a screen door on a submarine.
  11. This is why it is good that MK makes decisions and not us fans.
  12. Sorry, I wouldn't want him back. Willie only cared about Willie. He eventually won because he recruited #9, and then figured out how to quit holding him back after losing constantly and a ton of outside pressure. Otherwise, he just got in his own way. He didn't represent USF well at all. Winning is a lot, but it isn't everything.
  13. That school also prints degrees in exchange for tuition at an insane rate. USF focuses on quality. UCF focuses on quantity at the cost of quality. It has led them to have many more alumni than we do, and they played football a few decades longer than we did too. Credit them, it has worked. They irritated the country into paying attention to their football program and pursued the "any media attention is good attention" approach. Meanwhile, I can't imagine too many of their alums are actually happy with their degree's worth compared with other state universities, outside of a few specialty programs they have developed well. Football is most of what they have going for them. Give us time to even get where they are, now that we no longer have our wagon hitched to the Jim Leavitt success express.
  14. I made the donation. It's already paid, and we need to grow the Bulls Club Annual Fund in order to be competitive for a P5 invite and extra scholarship money for student athletes (big recruiting tool). Of course we'd like football and men's BB to be more competitive, but resources are what empowers coaches to recruit better. I don't blame anyone who is unenamored with our football record right now, but Athletics as a whole is doing great things.
  15. Ah, this thread reminds me of all the "Fire Taggart" posts just before he turned it around and started winning. Too soon, folks. Firing him now would make us as uncouth as FSU. Coaches need to know we will invest the time in them needed to build a program. Firing a coach before at least 3 years tells everyone else you are a terrible job option due. CJS also gets a mulligan for 2020. Getting a single practice with the team (which was in terrible shape thanks to Charlie Strong's utter lack of leadership) before COVID restrictions kicked in is not a real year for a coaching staff to enact change. Meetings over Zoom does not a football team make. Strap in, folks, we will see CJS through his fourth year here. I am not happy with the on-field results, but we don't grow winning coaches in their first head coaching gig overnight.
  16. One of my all-time favorite Bulls. He is a Bull through and through. Here's to hoping he heals up quickly and fully. I feel like he will be the type joining our tailgates in future years along with Atterbury and company. DJ, while your leg is healing, work on that deltoid and bicep in preparation for some epic beerpong and flipcup!
  17. I appreciate the option. I renew every year anyway; this makes it easy.
  18. I do like the creativity to get this game moved to FAU, and appreciate FAU for agreeing to host it. Sadly, I cannot move heaven and earth to make the game. Only had Saturday free for the game in Tampa; got work shifts Friday and then Sunday thru next Friday. The down and back drive would kill me, if even possible. And if (when) the Bulls lose, it will kill me further. Forgive me for not chomping at the bit to kill myself to let the Bulls kill me, fresh off the trip to Louisville (which was an awesome time until kickoff) In other news, I got a hold of Peerless Double Oaked Bourbon and their Double Oaked Rye too while in Louisville! It is definitely a great mix for surviving Ian. Lost power at 4pm, so the standby Kentucky hug was invaluable.
  19. The defense is hot garbage and Shoop is not the answer. NFL teams may get calls from the box just fine. Shoop has got to be socialphobic to want to make calls from the box. Get onto the field with the players, where leadership is needed.
  20. DC should never be separated from the players. Puts unnecessary delay into communications. Also, the playcalls are hot garbage, even though they are delayed til after getting a look at the offensive formation.
  21. Our OLine can't open up the run game for us, and when we switch to the passing game our WRs can't catch passes and clearly the risk of interceptions is high. I don't see a magic turnaround for us in this one
  22. Wins don't come out of thin air. The foundations have to be set. I expressed appreciation that we are finally showing more than thin air. Its not yet wins. But we are finally starting to show significant signs of things that lead to wins. Also, representing our school, our character, and our fans is not accomplished solely by winning. We all want wins. I believe we need good reflections on the people and the school we collectively love. Taggart won but in my humble opinion he was not a great personal reflection of what this school, its Athletics program, and our fans stand for. I believe we need a winning character; wins do not make the character- its the other way around. Leavitt's first team had a winning culture after a year of practicing without playing a single game to know whether they were winners. That winning culture was reflected in immediate competitive success starting the first season they played in games. Forgive me, but the bigger picture encompasses more than a win here and a win there. The trends are finally in the right direction. The wins will likely follow, though they aren't a guarantee, they're just much more likely with the right intangibles in the mix.
  23. I am lauding them for things they can't fake. I hear you, we don't know whether it turns in to wins later in the year. But that team and staff's behavior was exactly what I'd been looking for to know a turnaround is in progress. Whether the game planning process can be established consistently is far from being known, and whether the staff can harness and maintain that over time is nowhere near proven. I'm also not looking for a "win, now!" result. I want to see all the intangibles that great teams and staffs exude, and I expect more wins will follow. But I want to see that culture established and then maintained. I have no doubt the wins will follow, but I don't want wins "now" in favor of leaving trash in their wake, such as the Urban Meyer way. Yes I'll invoke it for once; I want to see the wins and the staff and the culture hang around for years like a Clemson. Once we get the right staff, my hope is there will be some continuity (usually via the head coach) and the success is maintained over time with some ebbs and flows each year which are natural in any organization.
