  1. Rudd will not be drafted in the NBA. May not even be asked to play overseas. It's unfortunate...he is a world of talent...but lacks a great deal of heart and leadership skills. It amazes me how they look the part (losing) within the first 30 seconds of the game. Their body language, demeanor, jogging up the floor, lack of will and desire said it all from the moment that ball is tipped. Man, I hope for a better football and basketball season this coming fall.
  2. Not taking errant shots Challenging every shots Playing aggressive Not harping on your teammates Going for every rebound Staying focused when opposing team goes on a run Lastly...being consistent game in and game out on all of the above. Vic, we need you to turn this thing around. By far, this has been the best game to watch all season.
  3. Mostly have to agree with you. Yeah, we can't fire Heath. Just not a smart move, or at least a financially feasible one any way. But, the team he is putting out there is lacking any heart. We have talent...but no heart...and no floor leaders. Rudd, as talented as he is, is not a good leader. Never was. He succeeded when we had floor leaders, such as Ron Anderson. And without Collins throwing lobs to him, he is reverting back to his Sophomore self, when he took errant shots, rather than using his physical abilities to drive to the basket. Many will probably say he is trying to get his shots back, but he has never been a great perimeter shooter. Not bad, but definitely not great. Rudd is most effective taking it aggressively to the basket, which later opens up his outside game. We need to put Heath at PG, Brock at SG, Hawkins at SF, Perry at PF, and Egbunu at C. Allen and Rudd have lost their desire (and/or, most importantly their will) to lead this team. Maybe sitting them will help give them some sort of spark.
  4. Man, I respect coach Heath. I wish I have his calm demeanor, because I would be ripping into this team right now. I don't like belittling people, but man this team needs a guy like Bobby Knight right now. There's too much talent to just come out playing like they are playing picnic basketball! And this has been happening too many games. It is time to start treating these guys like they are men.
  5. Would you come out throwing up jumpers at the beginning of the game when you know your team is struggling shooting from the outside? I'm no basketball coach, but if you are struggling from the outside shots (and have been for many games now), in order to get your shot back you have to attack the hoop!!! Eventually, the defense will start collapsing!!! Then you get open looks!!! The idea of "keep shooting" to regain your touch/rhythm is farce!!! Especially at this level. Maybe in a pickup game. And because of our ineptitude in making long range shots and making them early in the game, we have been unable to establish any momentum. We're always playing catch-up (seems like.) And for the life of me, where are our leaders??? Our field generals??? When we're down, everybody is out for themselves!!!
  6. senior leadership. When the going gets tough, no one is there to pull the team through. Ron Anderson, we miss you.
  7. Need link for tonight's game against Santa Clara. I know it's on CBSSnetwork (which I have through BH), but I am out of town for the holidays. Thanks.
  8. Agree on sitting him. At least not starting him. The offense is no longer geared around and/or dependent on AC. In addition, he is not fully recovered from his knee surgery, which has definitely hampered his play. He is more tentative driving to the basket and is a step slower than his 100% self. With that being said...I can assure you that pulling him will diminish his confidence and possibly alter team chemistry.
  9. He was leaving no matter what. Irregardless of what had happened this year. You don't think he would of left if our team did better and/or he piled bigger numbers???
  10. It had to have been because we didn't play on the native american burial ground below the Sun Dome. The year we made the tourney run, we played in various venues around Tampa Bay while the Sun Dome renovations were taking place. You know...this is actually starting to be true. What's wrong with the Sun Dome? There's a curse there. First of all, no one goes to the games. Secondly, the people that are there are half dead. You can hear a pin drop in there during most of the game. Third, we seem to never get any breaks, such as loose balls, foul calls, and our players seem to either sleep-walk or end up committing bone-headed plays. And no, I'm not talking about football.
  11. invite to the big12 Crap! No wonder I have not seen any "Girls of the Week" pictures.
  12. You know what? I'd rather play at their place. It will be an away game for us no-matter-what, whether it's at RJS or the aluminum bowl. This way we can actually say we are playing away. White has played better away, albeit, just that lone game against Houston.
  13. Our FB program's futility solely rests on the people directly involved in it. Period.
  14. This is cracking me up...who are we targeting next? The receptionist? The night-cleaning person? "Dam* you!!! You forgot to put a bag in my trash bin!! You must not be a Bulls supporter!!"
  15. WTF?! Some of you guys just can't stop nitpicking. Many here couldn't stand Skip Holtz's "coach speak" and now you can't handle Taggart "speaking the truth." IMO, he didn't say anything demeaning or specifically targeted one player. He is just merely telling everyone (players, fans, media, administration) what the glaring weaknesses of his team and that they will be corrected whether it will be with current players or incoming players. Of course Derrick Hopkins is defensive towards Taggart's comments. Hopkins is in the dog house and has been since the beginning of the season for dropping passes and being in the wrong place. Clearly, he is not understanding Taggart's system. That's not to say he is not a good player...he just doesn't fit.
  16. And look what creeps out from under the bridge. Mr. I told you so. You my friend cap off a totally lousy evening., Roaches always creep out when it's dark.
  17. LOL! Yes, we have many experienced attackers here... With that being said...you are only as good as your team. Lynch is a great athlete. You can tell by him coming off the edge with speed and good footwork...but, short passes, constant double team, and an ineffective interior D against the run will nix all that. In addition, an inconsistent offense that can't keep drives alive and score will also negate his skills. If Lynch was still on ND, we would be talking about him being a consensus all-american and a potential top ten pick.
  18. People don't realize how important good hands are when it comes to being a big man/post player. And good feet too.
  19. That's what she said ... LOL!! What was his intentions of putting that in there?? You know he did that on purpose. Writers always have an underlying message.
  20. I wouldn't consider Houston being one of the worst defensive teams. They were ranked #1 in FBS in turnovers at an astronomically +20 something.
  21. I have preached before about two types of talent: physical attributes and football intelligence. Not many with both. It's only one game (keeping things in perspective), but he has shown both of those last night. He scans the field prior to snapping the ball, he goes through his progression, and he is deliberate with his decision making. He has good arm strength, but more importantly he shows touch when he knows touch is needed. Some balls were already in the air while the receiver was making his break and getting there just right on time. Not too soon and not late. These are hard intangibles to find when recruiting a QB, especially for a pocket passing QB. Now-a-days athletic QBs are the norm, because the game is so fast and kids are not as good going through multiple reads so they have to rely on their running ability to escape pressure and get positive yardage. I like the kid. Now let's see if he has the moxie to maintain consistency.
  22. The guy has been playing the past couple of years knowing his mom was going to pass. Many here were on him about how overrated he is and how he has underachieved. Many here still ripping some of these kids apart for under-performing without knowing fully what is going on in their lives. Man, sometimes this sport can distort people's perception and make them unbelievably crazy and irrational.
  23. We need to stick with the "Tampa 2" defense the whole game (until it fails) where Fidel Montgomery sits behind the two LB covering the medium to deep middle. Give Lynch the freedom to line up as a LB or as a down lineman and let him roam using his instincts to detect the direction of the run plays. We could give up many yards to them in running, but we'll be able to help our secondary cover down field passes.
  24. Seth used to come out to greet the fans before games at one of the entrances while we would be drinking free beer and eating free pizza. Basketball then as it is now was not a big draw among students, therefore, the student govt' provided free beer and pizza. I missed those days...not only the freebies, but the student section included the whole first section behind both benches. You could hear Seth screaming at the refs and hear him in the huddle drawing up plays. And you can hear on the other end our fans (the death squad??) razzing the opposing team. Basketball wasn't that half bad...entertaining to watch...with B.B. Waldon and Altron Jackson. Seth was a good coach...not great...but a very good coach. High motored and showed a great deal of passion for what he did for a living. Not sure if he was ever passionate for USF basketball, though.
  25. He looked like one of the best in the preseason... against 3rd string in an exhibition game i could get specific but the long and short of it is simple---bj was never an nfl qb NEVER He was and he still is, smazza. But seriously, why are you so adamant about condemning the talents of a kid who represents the school you claim to support? Everyone else here is excited to see BJ succeed, and all you want to do is come in here and piss all over it. You were in here talking this crap all through the preseason, and when he made the 49ers roster, you went silent. Then he gets waived and you pop back up, but since it was announced the Seahawks picked him up, you've again stopped commenting. It's called "attention-seeking." Every reply to his post gets him excited. It's like that annoying kid at the playground that doesn't leave you alone. And every time you turn around to tell him to go away, he comes back full force.
