  1. In a RPO offense, QB's have a lot more to read than "just one player" and some might argue, Milton's at his best when a play or containment break down...as maybe his best asset is his ability to keep looking downfield while scrambling, as he showed again on his long TD pass in Week 1...when he was scrambling/rolling right and hit former Ole Miss WR Nixon in stride in the back of the end zone. Of course on "simpler" RPO plays, he has to read his blocks, DL and LB reaction and which available lanes might be available for him or the RB (if run) and/or which coverage might open up in passing game. Milton isn't the greatest QB in the world...and his biggest asset might be his feet...and seeing how he got "dinged" up in the 2nd Q of the UCONN game (he didn't gain one yard rushing after that injury), he becomes a totally different QB when he loses his quickness/running ability...so for UCF, he has to remain healthy for some upcoming big non-conf games (UNC, Pitt, FAU) and then obviously conf play.
  2. Just wanted to note my condolences as myself and others found out about his passing from our private boards where many noted their respect for him. He certainly left an amazing legacy about his love for school and family, and actions like that deserve respect and prayers to him and his family.
  3. Correct...as a building in Providence gave then the Big East a pretty sweet leasing deal. Of course its silly to have a HQ in Rhode Island...as the local press doesn't care about your most "Southern" Conference...let alone none of those "Southern Markets" have reps in the HQ area. There was talk about moving HQ to Disney Area and/or to Dallas area...but with the conf membership on egg shells, sadly, it might be getter to stay put vs moved to a city and then have that local team(s) jump ship too.
  4. Because the AAC HQ is located in Providence, Rhode Island.
  5. I know that was a joke...but FGCU's 4,600 seat Alico Arena, which opened in 2002, is probably the perfect fit for this ASUN program. FGCU averaged 3,669 in announced attendance this past season (includes 4,670 that showed up for their ASUN Tourn Championship Game...as each game in the ASUN Tourn was held on higher seed's home court throughout the tournament)
  6. UH has raised tens of millions of $$$ from their boosters in recent years...as the past 2 main facility projects were that recently opened: $120 Million On-Campus Stadium (included demolition of their old public HS/converted college football stadium) $25 Million Basketball Practice Facility UH recently got their Board approval for: $60 Million Basketball Arena Renovation of Hoffeinz Pavilion And obviously their $20 Million Indoor Football Practice Facility
  7. The ironic part is that USM didn't need to rebuild or go thru any cycle...as USM Leaders thought it would be a good idea to fire Coach Jeff Bower after 14 straight winning seasons. USM once had a solid, steady program...but they threw that all away to hire a gun slinger who wanted to take short cuts to win in the short term and bolt to a P5 program..while sacrificing the future of the team. Be careful what you wish for...
  8. But even more people (i.e. students) will WALK a few hundred yards to watch a winning team play on-campus.
  9. Thats why college head coaches sign multi-year, multi-million dollar contracts. As the old coach saying goes: "You get hired to get fired"...(i.e. knowingly full well you will get paid, even when you fail). Not a bad gig if you can get it.
  10. They will move them if you're a UCF fan, but there's maybe 1-2 UCF guys (footnfan is one) who post pretty logically, but many of them are trolling or poking the bear. If you have 6 hours to waste, you can read the UCF Dumbgeon post in one of the other subforums, prepare to lose brain cells. That kind of covered it nicely. As long as you're not being a **** anywhere on our forums, kind of lenient on this board..... Can't wait till that day comes....maybe you should read what is written vs looking at a poster's name.
  11. Having one is what matters. Until we have an IPF or OCS, then we shouldn't be talking crap about other schools that invested and built them. Please.....
  12. Must be a Walmart type IPF. Harlan said one costs around $40 mil ... I don't get Harlans number FSU and Florida only spent $15 mil. In the "arms race" we may be forced to build one. I think it was not long after he got here and he probably wasn't that familiar with them considering, I assume, that UCLA had zero need or interest in one ... Well, LA has basically perfect weather year-round...while Tampa is located in the Lightning Capital of the US Corridor (Tampa to Orlando). Its the afternoon thunder/lightning storms that happen almost on a daily basis from July to late Sept/early Oct (when teams are practicing) that makes a IPF a priority along the Lightning Corridor of the USA. (That was the main reason why UCF built theirs some 10 years ago...as while you can practice in rain, you can't practice if lightning is in the area....as now most FLA Univ have lightning detector systems which help warn about incoming bad weather).
  13. FYI...Stub Hub has tix starting at $16 in 2nd level. They have some 1st level sidecourt tix starting at $20 http://www.stubhub.com/south-florida-basketball-tickets/south-florida-vs-tulsa-1-17-2015-9121531/ Seatgeek has a few starting at $15 https://seatgeek.com/tulsa-golden-hurricane-at-south-florida-bulls-basketball-tickets/ncaa-basketball/2015-01-17-11-am/2312172/
  14. Fulton County Stadium in ATL was horrible for football and not very good for baseball...as that was the case for virtual every round multi-sport stadium like: Three Rivers (Pittsburgh) Riverfront Stadium (Cincinnati) The Vet (Philly) Shea Stadium (NYC) Old Busch Stadium (St Louis) Jack Murphy Stadium (San Diego) RFK Stadium (DC) Oakland Coliseum Memorial Stadium (Baltimore) Kingdome (Seattle) Metrodome (Minneapolis) Heck, Joe Robbie for Baseball? Horrible Few cities were decades ahead of baseball and football only stadiums like Kansas City (Arrowhead Stadium opened in 1972, Royals Stadium opened in 1973).
  15. The problem with any kind of mandate like this is the fact that these teams need 7 or 8 homes games every season... that will be impossible to do if they only play each other. So the G5 will continue to have access... but it will be very hard to get home-and-home games with the P5. We might get 2-for-1 deals... or we'll get passed over for another G5 team that would be willing to take a 1-and-done game. I think the argument about needing 7 or 8 home games doesn't hold water anymore. The P5 teams are bringing in more money from tv, playoffs, etc. than they ever dreamed possible. That's an old bs argument that should have went away when all of the bcs money started flowing. If a P5 needs a 7th or 8th game for their athletic programs to survive then there must be some serious mismanagement of money going on. USF brings in a small fraction of what the P5 brings in yet we can build all of these new facilities and pay our coaches over $1m a year. All with low attendance and a small donor base on top of it. Great point...and only a handful (if that) ever end up with 8 home games....and while most have 7 home games per year...almost all other P5 programs in other conf seem to be able to manage 1 or even 2 non-conf games vs P5 opponents. Hope the Playoff Committee slams teams with joke non-conf schedules in the future...
  16. Always thought the Rowdies should have partnered with USF on building Corbett stadium and share it Agree....or St Pete should finally bulldoze Al Lang Stadium and put in a real soccer stadium in its place. Went to a Rowdies game this past season vs the Cosmos (enjoyed hanging out in downtown st pete) but that baseball stadium is hideous for soccer as so few seats are actually on the sideline. Whatever minor league the Rowdies are in...they really only need a 5,000 - 7,000 type seat stadium...and maybe they can improve USF's small soccer stadium or improve the larger track & field (formerly soccer too) stadium at USF....but they have to get out of the baseball stadium in St Pete.
  17. But Genshaft (and Harlan) could have accomplished the same thing (firing of Woolard) WITHOUT paying him $1 Million to walk away.
  18. What the heck does $1 Billion plus NFL Stadiums have to do with most on-campus college football stadiums? Colleges have used BOOSTER FEES for decades...as in fans have to pay booster $$$ just to have the right to purchase season tix. PSL's by NFL teams were used to "catch up" as they didn't have "booster fees" decades ago in the NFL.
  19. Being able to change old decisions to adapt to new circumstances is a business advantage... more limited availability might actually increase demand slightly... common marketing tactic. Yes, indeed...and as a reminder our highest average attendance years were '07 (44.7K) & '09 (41.4K) [TSA attendance numbers, not USF tickets distributed], so we never did get close to averaging 50-55K per season. Fill the 100 & 200 levels with regularity and open the 300's when there's sufficient demand...however long that may take. Smart. With the 42,000-44,000 seats in the 2 lower levels...that's plenty for USF in the AAC...even for the years they are hosting UCF. Lower stadium costs (upper level closed)...plus, it would open up more of the closed concession stands in the lower level...which will be a better fan experience for all...plus help a better home field advantage (all fans sitting closer to the field). With limited tix to sell...it actually might force more to buy season tix...as no longer can one sit on the 40-50 yd line in rows 1 or 2 for any game.
  20. As the above article shows plus the one from last year, Bucs are trying to get out of spending any money in upgrading the 1998 Video Boards (some of the oldset in the NFL, if not the oldest today). Bucs seek delay in upgrading old video boards http://www.tampabay.com/news/localgovernment/bucs-seek-delay-in-replacing-video-scoreboards-at-raymond-james-stadium/2159391 Believe TSA promised the NCAA that new video boards will be in place for the Jan 2017 National Championship Game.
  21. You also forgot that he gave Stan Heath a new contract extension as well...which USF was left to pay for too. Only in collegiate athletics, can one fail miserably, yet walk away with millions. What a gig.
  22. Remember, Papa John Stadium was a 42,000 seat stadium from 1998 to the summer of 2010. UL added a 13,000 seat expansion in 2010, which included a new East Side Upper Deck Some schools, even P5 schools, have renovated or built stadiums that were at or even lower seating capacity than their old ones like: Stanford: Old 85,000 seats, New 50,000 seats Minnesota: Old off-campus NFL Stadium 64,000 seats, New: 52,000 Baylor: Old off-campus college stadium 50,000 seats, New on-campus stadium 45,000 seats TCU spent $164 Million renovating their very old 44,500 seat stadium...and the new configuration seats basically the same.
  23. That is soooo f-d up. So glad that's not the case.
  24. Stan Heath deserve to get fired That is debatable. He took USF the farthest that any USF mens basketball has ever done. COA has destroyed what we had in the 1st ten games of his USF career. It has been a mess. This one is on Harlan's watch and it looks terrible right now. What we had was a 97-129 overall record and a 37-89 conference record under Heath. Not exactly something to be longed for..... Wake me up when USF ever finds another coach that gets multipy 20 win season for USF mens basketball. With our 1st hire would have not lied on his resume. Or second choice looks lost right now. We won 4 of our last 22 games last year. We finished 12-20. What exactly was so great about that and what did you honestly expect this year? That was with AC out for the season. We have a healty AC, we maybe make the NIT. Stan Heath cant control injuries So 12-19 the year before was any better? AC got hurt that year too and missed a lot of the season. Would have loved to see how well Heath would have done with a heatlhy AC. He almost got USF into the sweet 16 during AC's freshmen season. Judy messed up the hoops program just like she messed up the football program. In 2012-2013, when USF went 3-15 in conf play, AC played in all 32 games (started 28), and easily had the 2nd most mins played of the season. There is a difference between being injured and hurt...as most players have nagging alignments that they have to play thru, each and every year.
