  1. I agree, and in the end whatever ones opinion we are all hoping that the new hires work out. I cant wait to start winning again, and hopefully sooner then later.
  2. Yes at this point he is probably still assessing what he has and what he needs. That will take some time. My biggest worry about having gone with an OC vs having gone with an experienced HC is connections. Still remains to be seen whether coach Golesh has the connections to bring in high level recruits. So far I have not been impressed with the assistant coaching hires, as it seems to have come down to a small group of candidates; mostly FAU rethreads, or promoting people he knows from Tennessee. However a few big recruits committing to USF could change my mind instantly.
  3. Wouldn't mind having Army added to our conference. Army and Appalachian State would have been better additions then North Texas, Charlotte, and Rice( and I don't mean any disrespect to those teams; since they could verry well beat us next year).
  4. Really impressed with what women's basketball team has accomplished over the last 5 years. They have been really consistent. There is no reason why the football team and the men's basketball team can't do the same.
  5. I don't know him, but he seems like an amazing person. I want to thank Albert Boone for all he did for USF. He certainly wasn't the reason why the team has been bad over the last 4 years. Hope he is retained in some capacity. If not I wish him well in his future endeavors.
  6. Yes, while his resume is impressive and I welcome him to USF to be honest I am not able to name who was in the same position at USF over the last 10 years. Doesn't mean it is not an important position but whether we are successful will likely come down to other things; mainly to coach Golesh and his ability to adapt from being an OC to HC. But overall this seems to be a good hire.
  7. I would be cool if we were in a conference with West Virginia again. Those games against WVU are some of my fondest memories.
  8. If we are picked up by another conference I think the Big 12 is more likely then the ACC. I think the Big 12 is likely to lose more teams over the next several years. Teams like Oklahoma State and Kansas will have several options as to where they want to go. Also I see a team like West Virginia as being a better fit in the ACC then the Big 12. Do know this is not based on any inside knowledge. I am just a regular guy in front of a computer with an opinion. That's just my hunch. We just need to make sure that next time when there is conference realignment we are in a better position then last time since we will be competing with teams like Memphis, Tulane, Boise State among others. Winning and an OCS will do wonders.
  9. I don't know if this is a good hire, but I have no doubt that he will be 100 percent committed to taking USF to the next level. Most people are not that petty.
  10. I expect that it will be done. There might be a slight delay, but based on reports earlier in the year it seems like it will happen. Pulling completely back from an OCS plan at this time would be a devastating blow to the fans. While some of my trust in Kelly has vanished I do expect him to get us an OCS by 2028.
  11. I also like that the offer is for an offensive tackle since OL will be an area of need next year. A good offensive line can make an average RB, WR or QB look like the best in the world. The QB and RB position was good this year, a good OL could make our QB and RB some of the best we have ever had.
  12. Yes, when it happens ( hope its when not if) I will make the trip back for the opening. I haven't been back to Tampa since 2008.
  13. To the question as to whether Golesh will stick around if he is successful here I don't know the answer to that. But that's the same for any incoming coach( except maybe if it would have been Leavitt). But if that happens it would mean he would have won here and would probably leave the program in a better place then that we are right now. I would signup for that in a heartbeat.
  14. We were horrible this year, but still kept it close with teams like Florida, Cincy, Tulsa and UCF. I think in the new conference we should be able to win 4 games this upcoming year. But yes next year will be tough, and I am willing to give new coach somewhat of a pass in the first year, but a bowl game year 2 is minimum. Year 3 I expect to compete for conference championship. Anything else I will consider failure; at which point I will have lost all confidence in Kelly.
  15. While I don't like the HC ad DC hires, whether I like the hires or not is irrelevant. I am more interested to see whether recruits and current players like the hires. It be interesting the see whether more of our best players decide to go into the transfer portal. If he can keep our main QF and RB that would be a good start. Also will be interesting to see what players he can bring in through the transfer portal from other programs. While next year will be tough; I expect a bowl game in year 2; anything else I will see as failure. We cannot afford a 3-5 year built with conference realignment.
  16. Yes, and I don't believe in curses or that USF men's basketball cant be successful. Any program is just one hire and 4 to 5 recruits away from success.
  17. Yea I agree. I respect UCF for what they have accomplished, and I wish them good luck in the new conference ( hope we join them soon in the Big 12), but it is just sad to hang out on other boards like that.
  18. Year one will absolutely be difficult, but 4 wins should be a minimum. We wont be playing UCF, Cincy, and Houston. Also our OOC games will be easier. However, year 2 I expect a bowl game at a bare minimum. Year 3 and 4 I expect to compete for a conference title. Anything less I would see as failure.
  19. Yes, but I don't know if an upgrade is good enough for our situation. We can do better then just an upgrade. These hires needed to be homeruns. Maybe they will be; time will tell, but I am not sold.
  20. I haven't been following his career, but that's usually not a good sign.
  21. Are we talking the FAU defensive coordinator?? Hope I have that wrong?
  22. I agree this would be a great pick up, and would be in line with what he promised this morning.
  23. I think that if you are a Cincy fan or alum there is some trust in the decision makers since they have had a lot of recent success and will soon be playing in the BIg 12. I think that type of trust between most of our fan base and Kelly at this time is very low.
  24. I think these would be fair expectations. Next year will be tough but at least 4 wins is reasonable. I do expect a bowl game in year 2,and compete for conference championship in year 3. Anything less will be disappointing. I never understood the feeling that if Scott had won 4 games this year; that that would have meant enough progress, and that he likely would have kept his job.
