  1. I know there’s some tongue in cheek in that statement but I think it does merit discussion... How can donors be expected (as I assume they will be) to fund a new stadium as well as shell out the money needed to retain/recruit players? Doesn’t seem plausible.
  2. To Outlaw’s point, these recent departures seem odd to me considering we just hired the guy (supposedly) responsible for the best offense in the country last season. Wouldn’t offensive players want to stick around to reap the benefits? If one of Golesh’s early objectives was to retain talent (which should have been a given) it doesn’t look like he’s succeeding. Is this all due to lack of $?
  3. It’s a good question, I’ll defer to others who follow the conference more closely but it did seem like SMU was pulling in talent presumably based on their publicized payment structure. It seems like the colleges with the most wealthy donors will rise to the top and all other institutions will be the farm system. If that’s the case, watered down conference championships and/or bowl games seem to be mostly irrelevant participation trophies.
  4. 100%. A 1-11 team just lost nearly all of its offensive talent to other schools. Sadly, after 15 seasons, our season ticket renewal is in serious doubt.
  5. RIP college football for 2/3rds of the country. This is a garbage system of have and have nots, and I don’t see how the have nots will ever be able to compete.
  6. To regain national prominence, USF needs to start winning and never stop at this point. Seriously. I don’t think watered down AAC conference championships alone will do it. USF also has to beat their P5 OOC opponents for anyone to believe they belong on a national stage. They have to accomplish this feat in the new college football landscape (portal + NIL) in which your best players are being plucked to greener pastures on a yearly basis. Honestly, it’s hard to fault folks for their doomer povs. The timing of USFs woes could not have been worse the way things have played out.
  7. I happened to review the list of ESPN top 300 recruits/commits a bit ago and wasn’t surprised to see that USF had none. I was annoyed to see that UCF had 2 of the top 300 recruits committed and further annoyed to see that it was a DT and DE from…drumroll…Seminole and St Petersburg.
  8. Has there been any progress on the OCS topic since late August/early September? Really hope that wasn’t just a hype job by USF admin in an attempt to preserve fans.
  9. Piggybacking the NIL suggestions…a fantasy footBull league with the sponsored players. Set the league entry fees at a premium with most going to players.
  10. Speaking of embellishment, after reading the tweet saying USF was blown away by his interview, I was expecting more out of his press conference. Not hiring the guy to be a public speaking wiz, but it certainly makes me skeptical of what we’ve been told/sold.
  11. I’ll take them off your hands, if they are still available.
  12. Disheartening seeing this. Not sure how you build back the fan base with this slate of opponents, even if you are winning.
  13. Perhaps we solve the RJ color scheme problem by changing the school colors to match. Cheaper than a $300 million stadium and red would be more fitting with bulls. Added plus, the band dresses in red garb and the live bull gets set loose on the field at the end of the halftime performance and we get a Pamplona-esque show.
  14. A few season ago they were $9, then post Covid they jumped to ~$12 and now $15 for what looks like a 16 oz beer. We are talking about the equivalent of paying $10 for a can of basic beer. Lesson learned for me is to make sure nearly all my consumption happens at the tailgate. Not good for attracting/encouraging the casual fan or families to go to a game.
  15. The result on the field was pretty much what I expected…a non-dominating win. My biggest complaint are the concessions. $50 for 2 beers, a water and a popcorn? That’s insane.
  16. Last night I called it “cutting my losses”. Terrible product on the field in an uncompetitive game + overpriced beverages/snacks = leaving at halftime. 15 season ticket holder.
  17. Guess they ran out. No one was manning either distribution location when they let fans in the gates after the weather delay, just empty boxes. Guy at the USF merch table next to it said they were supposed to be handing them out until halftime but with the weather delay guess they ran out after underestimated the needed quantity.
  18. Add season ticket holder hat giveaway to the list of fails. Nada.
  19. Yeah they have markdowns on almost all of their USF items including tumblrs for $25, backpack coolers for $30 and zero loungers for $70
  20. 1 USF tent left at N Dale Mabry Sams, marked down to $99.
  21. If it’s anything like what has been happening in Carrollwood the last 2 days, there could be hours long delays. Torrential downpours and severe lightning.
  22. Saw the USF tents at Costco (westchase) on Wednesday. They are back by the prepare foods.
  23. I just completed this quiz. My Score 13/100 My Time 202 seconds
  24. Thanks for the invite. Deferring to Monktified for first selection. FWIW, long time fantasy footballer, pretty good track record (minus ******** the bed last season), and never have abandoned a team. Looking forward to some new competition.
  25. Id be interested in joining if you still needed to backfill.
