  1. Largely agree but the rub seems to me that USF can give away a lot more tickets than most others, playing at 65k seat Ray Jay. Seems like any easy and obvious way to inflate numbers (I.e. just give away thousands of free tickets every game). Does anyone actually think USF has better average attendance than say nationally prominent Cincinnati who had 22k season ticket holders (as of 2021). According to this list we do (#67 vs #64).
  2. Yep, it’s all about how you define your data set. The only metric as a fan I care about is # of folks walking through gate and I’d bet my house that isn’t close to 30k on average. Now does any of this really matter - not really - except to make an honest assessment of the state of the program.
  3. I guess if enough websites post it, it must be true. I won’t repeat my comments from the other thread but I’ll continue to believe my lying eyes that attendance is well below those figures. Here were other reported average attendance numbers per the Oracle which feel more accurate to me…
  4. No it wasn’t but I’d still disagree. I don’t think 9-3 is going to feel all that great, nor get much recognition, if/when it’s achieved against lesser competition. May be it’s just me but losing a competitive game against a somebody (Florida) is more appealing than beating a nobody in a game with no real significance (say against Rice this season). Obviously, we have no choice for the foreseeable future, but attendance will suffer IMO until that’s remedied.
  5. I hear ya. I’m not a crowd attendance volume expert but as someone who has attended nearly every home game since the late 2000s, I personally think the ~30k average attendance figure that has been published is bs. I can say with certainty that my section (108) has never had more open seats (entire rows) than last season. So I’m not sure what the real attendance figure is, but I find it potentially telling that the draft design for the OCS is 35k seats. Wouldn’t seem to leave much room to welcome back all of the lost fans if we were truly averaging 30k today.
  6. It won’t, only because there is no cliff to fall from any longer but your sentiments are correct. Even when 1-11 terrible, playing nationally recognizable teams provides reason to attend. This slate of opponents, even if winning, is going to be a tough sell.
  7. Anyone who has been to a game, other than UCF and perhaps another marquee matchup or two, over the last several seasons would know that there are not ~30k in attendance. They don’t even bother trying a green and gold chant any longer (because it’s so empty). Lies, **** lies and statistics. —Twain
  8. I can confirm attendance is pathetic. It is at an all-time low point for the 15 seasons we’ve been ticket holders.
  9. I’d downgrade that to a maybe. Sure, folks like a winner, but who you are beating does matter for most people. Also in the mix, is what are you playing for - which also seems precarious at the moment.
  10. Valid point. Probably shouldn’t come as a surprise that I wasn’t in a fraternity either.
  11. I hope you are wrong but am afraid you are right…at least until they redo this NIL and portal system. The silver lining might be that this ridiculous system seems to alienate the majority of schools for the few so perhaps an exodus of college football fans nationwide changes some minds sooner rather than later. As far as NIL, nope. USF is clearly going to be a farm system so I’d be hard pressed to think of a bigger waste of money. It’s literally paying some kid to be your friend for a while, no thanks.
  12. Cold hard facts. The same system that’s now discouraging P5s from scheduling G5 opponents is going to let a G5 team in the playoffs? Not happening. I’m afraid the only path forward is to dominate our minor league conference for the next 5+ years and hope to get a call up. Problem is that it’s going to be extremely hard to dominate when your best players will be leaving every year.
  13. I would say Kelly bares most responsibility. He is in charge. Are we closer to, or further from, being selected for realignment than when Kelly took the job?
  14. This. The 14 safeties says to me CJS was trying to plug the DB hole and accustom to having superior athletes at Clemson that could be molded into other positions. Having superior athletes also means you probably can rely on their raw talent to cover any coaching/developing shortfalls you may have. Thus when he didn’t have superior athletes, it exposed him as ill equipped to be a head coach.
  15. That’s how I interpreted it. Although it likely wasnt meant to be a shot at Kelly (as it’s generally not a good idea to make your boss look bad), that is where the buck stops.
  16. Not trying to be argumentative, I know your views from your posts. I just see this as a divorce of sorts between the have and have nots. The latest is the de-scheduling of our future P5 opponents. It’s hard to see us having 2 great years when all of our talent was raided after being 1-11.
  17. 2 great years? USF was 1-11 and lost nearly every single playmaker. Unless you are a non-P5 with deep donor pockets, your school is now a farm system. That’s the new reality and fans will have to decide if that’s acceptable to them. For me, it’s not, even though I still follow this thread, hoping for a different outcome.
  18. I think there’s a healthy amount of denial and coping going on here. USF will take whoever they can get. That’s our lot in life now, sadly.
  19. I’m not enabling this non-sense by donating either. I hope the fans of the 100+ schools this system screws over all boycott as well. This is beyond corrupt.
  20. Yeah that was my initial thought as well but perhaps working on some transfers so I’ll give the benefit of the doubt. My .02 is that we should slash the travel budget and focus on FL and adjoining states. I posted in another thread that UCFs only 2 Top 300 commits were both from Pinellas - that can’t happen.
  21. My thinking as well. Been to nearly every game in this time period. I’d guess maybe 2/3rds of the reported figure. Visualizing Crowd Sizes If you're going to talk in front of an audience it's fun to visualize how...
  22. Nice in theory but what is his angle? He has a thin track record in coaching while inheriting a 1-11 team. It feels like it’s shaping up that we will be able to keep a few good, but not great, players via NIL money and Golesh is going to have to find some diamonds in the rough and 2nd chance players.
