    Easy, they have top tier football programs which makes investment in infrastructure low risk. For USF, we are following a version of the saying “dress for the job you want, not the job you have” which makes it much more speculative.

    Going to sound crazy but I think USF might keep it competitive for a while. It will be a hangover game for Bama after a big TX matchup this weekend. Plus Golesh beat them last year so he knows how to do it. Obviously the talent isn’t the same but I could see this still being a game in the 2nd half.

    I can’t believe that is a USF designed shirt but then I realized it’s from the same group with that “show us the renderings” tshirt the other week. These guys need to do better.

    Where the student angle falls a bit flat for me is if you could make it to every game as a student, why can’t today’s students. I’d feel more support for their cause if they were actually showing up in numbers over the past 5 years. Don’t forget, they moved the band into the student section years back to help fill it in. In thinking about the (missing) student body, I do wonder how much of the focus on academics has brought in the type of students who do not have much interest in football.

    May just be a slow news day, but that’s how I’d suspect they’d trickle out news that there may be a change (new info has come to light, may need reassessing).

    Despite my reservations about the OCS, F these academics at the source of this article. Academics has been the only focus by the failed leadership at USF over the past 2 decades who couldn’t walk and chew gum at the same time. The result of which is an athletics department that is on life support and are now having to take $200M loans (which would have been half that) at 7% when interest rates were essentially 0% for 15 ******* years.

    Haha. To clarify, the terrible outcome was my take on his reconstituted PAC theory. He wasn’t specifically singling USF out, the idea just happened to leave USF out because of geography. He was speculating that AAC teams from Tulane west would be a better make-up for a conference.

    You may have me mixed up for someone else, not your fault - I have a pretty generic user name. I’m personally not in the ACC is our destiny camp…too much passivity hoping something lucky breaks your way. Fact is, FSU is making noise because they can’t get out; otherwise, they would have already gotten out. If that happens, some time before 2036, as people have said, UM may block USF. I’m in the get a seat at the (power) table anyway possible camp. So a reconstituted PAC with top AAC but without USF, would mean the AAC just dropped down another notch (team make-up wise). The reformed PAC of best G5s seems like our last best chance for a while, perhaps long while.

    Wasn’t the big deal with OSU being left behind that they just sunk $150+ million dollars into new stadium upgrades? Wonder how they’d feel if that amount was twice as much.

    Saw someone (Stewart Mandel of the Athletic - whoever he is) spitballing what would be a terrible outcome for USF…PAC2 reforms conference with best of MWC and AAC as far East as Tulane (Tulane, Memphis, may be a Texas team or 2).

    Definitely need to bring something extra into the mix, certainly not going to win the band battle straight up. Although I do find it entertaining in a “that’s embarrassing” sort of way watching USF band do their best attempt at being FAMU.

    I expect to see 2 things at a USF v FAMU game…FAMUs marching 100 owning the half-time show and USF dominating the football game.

    It’s being romanticized that’s for sure. Someone put up a clip the other day of a goal line stop against NC when USF was already up 30-3. Huge, loud crowd going nuts for a team defending an end zone that has Buccaneers written across it. Was it ideal, no. Did it matter, also no.
