    Yeah, I think a feel for athletics has to be at the top of that list. You have to someone who can hire the right coaches above all else. If you produce a consistent winner, the other aspects (eg fundraising, community involvement, business partnerships) will follow. MK seemingly has the fundraising down but he’s perpetually swimming upstream because his inability to hire thus far.

    How amazing that would be; however, I have to question the veracity of this information as UAB is on the list as the 4th most desired school by the ACC.

    Ha, I guess it did. That’s on me. Back on message, their attendance sucks and won’t be getting better anytime soon.

    Indeed. Was thinking that most are familiar with the concept of “addition by subtraction”. From USFs POV as being one of the last adults still stuck at the designated kids table, the addition of these new schools is actually “subtraction by addition”. Our own fault but USF and UAB are not peers regardless of the outcome of the game.

    Based on Brads comments about the UAB locals, I did a quick Internet search. Undergrad population of UAB students is 10-12k and 62% female. Seems like a good place to find a date, but not sure those numbers translate well to football interest especially in a state that already has 2 football schools followed with religious fervor. At this point USF and AAC interests aren’t aligned, so USF should be blocking any more attempts to bring in these “up and coming” schools.

    Not sure where you are going but I’ll play along…. -Well they should have had 1 but the original comment which I summarized was not actually about extra money translating into conference wins, it was about not seeing that extra money as a fan. I didn’t feel like I need to further explain how that was wrong. -Not sure but the earlier poster said they were 28 and we were 56, so however many recruits make them twice as better ranked. I did post earlier in the summer that, if memory serves me correctly, UCFs only 2 top 100 recruits were from the Tampa Bay Area. -It certainly would but those recruits have “better” options so they now drive an hour east to go to school

    This take deserves recognition for how bad it is. To summarize: -more money for the football program isn’t what we want -better football recruits aren’t really a good thing (they are nerds) -winning against nobodies is better than even competing against somebodies, because its a foregone conclusion we’d lose Nailed it.

    Well USF does have discretion over if, when and how many free/cheap tickets to distribute so it’s completely under their control, is it not? Btw it was pretty Orwellian of you to describe lack of demand for a product as a “luxury”. Usually “luxury” is what you have when demand for your product has been met and you have the ability to take liberties. Backfilling paying fans, with non paying seat fillers is the opposite of a luxury, it’s a necessity. But to a POV where the fans, not the leadership, are the problem, I can see how you would make that mistake.

    A bit deflated more than anything for me. After the last few weeks, felt like we might have lucked into a worst to first type of situation. Today was a cold shower.

    Hated nearly everything about this game: - CAG and Dilfer essentially wearing the same shirt (black/slime) - UABs cartoonish uniforms and mascot along with its high school level attendance - this school was one of the best schools for inclusion in the AAC?? - obviously the fact that we got smoked by these cartoons - the refs/length of game - the announcers Pass the brain bleach.

    Perhaps. What a letdown after a good 4 week run. The way they had been playing especially on defense looked like they could potentially run the table.

    I expect inconsistency in a rebuild but not like this against a cartoonish looking, 1-4 team whose only win is NC A&T. Hopefully we are getting a Dilfer-like tirade from CAG in the locker room.

    One of the most embarrassing halves of football in recent memory. Did Orlando piss the defense off? Guys are seemingly out of position ever chance they get.

    I could distinctly hear what sounded like 3 girls yelling “block that kick” in the telecast. Very intimidating.
