  1. Bottom line is our staff called a great game, and had us in position to win against a top 20 team. Our offense carved the Gators up, and the defense held up better than just about anybody would have expected. Can't put the bad snap that went past Bohanon on the coaching staff. Same with the hold on that kick. We were at the doorstep, just didn't quite execute on a couple of critical plays. I'm more than ok with CJS and his staff tonight.
  2. Was very pleased to see us run all over them in a game I thought we'd be blown out in. Imagine what this offense can be if/when Bohanon starts connecting with the talented WRs we have here. This was feeling like a major breakthrough....like Auburn back in '07....but unfortunately didn't quite bounce our way today despite so many opportunities. This was a painful loss, but I'm confident in the direction Scott seems to have this team headed in. I knew there was talent on this team. It's looks like it's starting to click finally.
  3. Absolutely sick for Jeff Scott and this team right now, but they looked good tonight, and absolutely showed improvement.
  4. The call on Hill late 2nd Qtr had to be one of the more painful penalties since 2007. Just brutal, especially seeing UF score on the following play when we had them stopped. Love what I'm seeing so far other than that though....
  5. Exactly right. This kind of reminds me of the 2016 matchup with FSU. FSU was coming off a 63-20 loss to Louisville, and we actually had a good team that year, and FSU just steamrolled us. It was 38-14 at half. Their OL (and Dalvin Cook) just thoroughly dominated our defense. The situation this week looks far more bleak. Just hoping for no injuries, then seeing what Louisville, and conference play looks like.
  6. Florida has an elite OL and DL, according to CJS anyway. I'd be amazed if they fix it this weekend. I think that you were spot on in an earlier post, that we need to be +3 in turnovers with maybe 1 ST or defensive TD to even hang around in this one. Really just want to get out of there without any injuries, then see what we look like against Louisville
  7. I feel the same way. As far as believing in this staff, I can't say that I do as of now. Scott has brought in some talent though, enough to believe that a breakthrough is possible. Not sure how long a rope you're talking about, but I think he should be allowed to finish this season at least. If he winds up 1-11 or 2-10, another year would be a tough sell. Complaining at every opportunity is fair game I guess with the way things have been going, but I can see how that can get a little tiresome for some. Not crazy about the posts implying that Scott isn't trying though.
  8. Jones was the QB for Florida the vast majority of that game. Richardson looked far better in limited PT. Wonder what those stats would have looked like if they stuck with Richardson throughout that game? It'll be interesting to see what Shoop dials up on defense against what Scott called an elite OL, because we're not really equipped to deal with that very well. I think we're all hoping for improvement, but this is a rough game to try to gauge that. Obviously we're going to need turnovers, and several of them.....like Skip's win over ND.....to hang around in this one.
  9. I think many are looking for a reason to believe in this staff, and will when there's a reason to, but why do we HAVE to believe in them at this point? Scott is 1-19 vs. the FBS, and had no prior Head Coaching experience at the college level before arriving here. He was totally unproven when he was hired here in December 2019. What has he proven since? What are the specific reasons anybody should believe in him based on what's happened on the playing field since he's been here? He did bring in Trickett and Shoop to try to right the ship, but the Scott/Trickett/Shoop combo are 0-1 vs. the FBS right now, and looked shaky for much of the Howard game. Scott seems a good guy, and I'd love to see him succeed here, but there are no signs of that happening so far. Would like to revisit this midway through the season though, when the team has had a little more time under the new OC/DC.
  10. This pretty much sums it up for me as well. Just some sign that we're heading in the right direction. Not at all expecting a win this week, just hoping for noticeable progress.
  11. Yes. Being competitive outside of garbage time would be nice. Not sure that's going to happen this week though. Florida is Top 20 and we still seem to be in disarray. Hopefully Trickett tweaks some things and maybe stumbles upon something that works. A little frustrating knowing we have plenty of weapons, and not seeing it come together..
  12. Adversity wasn't a problem for Richardson against us last year, that's for sure. He was 3-3 152 yds 2 TDs, and had 4 carries for 115 and a TD. I'd take the ball, but with 60 minutes of football to be played, not sure how much it will matter. Just hope the offense can play anywhere close to it's potential, and the defense can at least make Richardson uncomfortable and maybe force a couple turnovers. Would be really nice if this thing is still winnable going into the half.
  13. That definitely does seem to be the case, and I'm still hoping that happens. I would point out though, that Marshall brought in 24 players from the portal according to an ESPN article, many of them transfers, many starting, a lot from P5 programs, and they have very poor depth according to the article. They seem to have put it together rather quickly. I'm hoping for some kind of turnaround, but honestly, what would you point to exactly to argue that Scott is the right guy based on what you've seen so far? I'm still hoping something or somebody kick starts this team , but it is kind of hard to make a case for Scott at the moment. Hopefully that changes soon.
  14. I'm thinking the same. With all the weapons on this team, especially at WR and RB, as well as the addition of Bohanon, it's easy to see why there was some hype coming into the season. Just hoping Bohanon doesn't get demoralized early in the season and lose confidence, because he'll be key if any turnaround happens this year. If he manages to get in a rhythm and maybe gets a little swag going, the rest of the offense will certainly feed off that. There absolutely is something to work with here. As far as CJS, at 4-19 with 1 FBS win, there's not much that I can point to that would suggest that he's the right guy for the job. He did bring in some talent, and changed OC and DC. He's trying, just hasn't clicked yet. Still hoping he can fix this, but maybe OhioBull is right. Maybe somebody on the playing field will have to lead any potential turnaround here...
  15. That's for **** sure. CWT didn't inherit much when he got here, and left enough talent for CCS to go 10-2. Taggart was 24-25 overall I believe, but he completely turned the program around.
  16. Agreed, and if a turnaround is to take place this year, Bohanon will likely be the someone who sparks it I'd imagine. There are plenty of weapons on offense, and if he manages to get in sync with his receivers, then maybe the confidence problem that you mentioned gets fixed and this starts to look a lot different.
  17. Just out of curiosity, is Kelley Joiner still with the team? If so, is he healthy? Always thought that guy was explosive, and wanted to see him more involved in the offense. Says a lot about the depth we have at RB that he isn't getting any PT (assuming he's here and healthy).
  18. Wasn't sure. The name is vaguely familiar. Find this, but not much else....
  19. Don't remember this guy. Not finding any stats on him either, but he was recruited by Taggart. Fight between Spring Hill Subway customers ends with man in critical condition, deputies say A brawl that started at a Subway in Spring Hill Thursday ended with a man in critical condition and another behind bars, authorities said.
  20. Yes. After reading that through, their football fans miss winning I'm sure, but likely don't miss him. They've been playing football there since 1890, and have been to only 12 bowl games, 4 of those with Mangino. All coaches since his departure: Turner Gill, Charlie Weis, David Beatty, and Les Miles have failed there, and the current coach is 2-10. Mangino must have been a **** good coach.
  21. Also from wiki: "Kansas has not won more than three games in a season since Mangino's departure." That's just unbelievable. At least we had a winning season with Skip, and a couple of good years with Taggart, and one with Strong. Was happy for them when they beat Texas, and they were at least competitive in the two games following that. Both programs kind of went into the toilet around the same time, and maybe both are turning it around at the same time as well. Mangino did manage to do pretty well at Kansas, which apparently isn't easy, but according to the wiki page, that guy was an absolute phallus. Seems like he was almost intolerable at every stop. It sounds like the incident they used to get rid of him was when he yelled at a player and poked him in the chest, but it seems he was just a douche in general and they were tired of dealing with him. They also mentioned him getting several parking tickets around campus, then yelling at whoever was issuing the tickets. Also had several players threatening to transfer because of him. Total opposite of maybe Skip or CJS, but he did pull off the difficult task of getting Kansas ranked....as high as #2 in 2007 (just like us).
  22. I was at the USF-KU game in 2008. I remember their QB, Todd Reesing, having a **** good game against us. I didn't really follow Kansas, but that guy looked very Flowers-like (probably an even better passer), at least in that game. Great game. USF football was quite fun around that time.
  23. They had a very similar path to ours since that 2008 game in which both were ranked. I believe Mangino was fired the same year Leavitt was, and neither had a Head Coaching gig again. Both programs have mostly sucked since, especially them. This from wiki: "Mangino's 50 wins are the second-most in school history. He is also the only coach since the end of World War II to leave Kansas with a winning record." I knew Kansas wasn't known for football, but I didn't know it was that bad. The "what could have been" thinking must go on at KU just as much as it does here as far as where these programs could have gone had Mangino/Leavitt managed to stick around.
  24. Hard to say who's fallen harder between us or Kansas. What's happened to that program? At least they're still P5 anyway...
  25. You think we can afford him? A good DC who can recruit the Miami area will certainly be a hot commodity. Certainly he will get better offers. Would love to see him here, but somehow I don't see that happening....
