  1. I hear we are in the running for a home and home with Old Dominion to complete the trifecta.
  2. The AAC was not really in a position to succeed OOC this year against P5 opponents. I don't see any Wake Forest, Boston College, Northwestern, Iowa State, Purdue, Kansas, etc. The weakest P5 team the AAC has played was Vanderbilt and Temple crushed them. P5 opponents + BYU that the AAC have played have been some of the better P5 teams in the country. Combined records of those opponents excluding the games against AAC competition is 38-6. 9 of the opponents were ranked when they played, and Penn State, Georgia Tech, NC State and Duke are just outside the top 25 (each are now 4-0). Most of the games were away from home. The AAC is the 6th best conference, but outside of the top several teams in each conference there isn't a big drop off. Half the teams in the AAC would beat the low level P5 teams. The same isn't true for CUSA or Sunbelt.
  3. Massey ratings don't look much better. http://www.masseyratings.com/team.php?t=7278&s=262657 According to them the best % chance for another win will be at Tulsa (30%). I must say that SMU ranked at 99 is based entirely on who they have played, not the strength of the team. They lost 43-6 to a North Texas team that was blown out at home by LA Tech (LA Tech lost to an FCS team). It may be a while before SMU is competitive.
  4. I think Memphis is much better than UConn at this point. Plus it is on the road. I think if we take care of Tulsa and SMU, and win 2 of 3 from Memphis, Houston and UCF. We could potentially have another game like Cincy last year that we had no business winning but somehow pull it out. Realistically 5-6 looking going into UCF would be great.
  5. And? They are coming off a BCS bowl win season and this is their first home game. They also have perfect weather, unlike the slop we had to play in. UCF would be drawing poor crowds too if they had the same success we've had the last 4 years. Lots of Bethune fans as well.
  6. Offense will have to come alive to upset ECU. No way we hold them below 28 points.
  7. ECU is the class of the conference after beating #17 Va Tech. ECU up 35-20 at half but North Carolina is outmatched in this game. It took a flea flicker and a fake field goal or they are probably down 4 scores at halftime.
  8. We are better than SMU too. That may be the only other game we are favored though.
  9. Sad state of affairs for SMU. They were getting 34.5 points at home aganst TAMU. With 9 minutes left in the 2nd quarter it is 31-0. Ouch. East Carolina vs North Carolina shaping up to be a close one 20-14 NC right now.
  10. Temple looks to be the real deal. They have a legit QB. I think they have turned the corner from a lot of close losses last year (only 3 losses by more than 10 points to Notre Dame, Louisville and Cincy). Believe they will be near the top of the conference when all is said and done. 59-0 is how you handle an FCS team.
  11. No need to redshirt him. If he is good he won't be sticking around for his 4th year of eligibility anyway. This team needs a spark now, not next year.
  12. It's simple. They planned to use him against WCU when up 3 scores and planned to use him against Maryland when down 3 scores. Neither scenario came to fruition.
  13. NC State needed a late comeback to barely beat Georgia Southern and led Old Dominion by only 5 late in the 4th quarter. Those games were at home. They are in competition for worst P5 team in the country. It is embarassing that they are even favored in this game on the road.
  14. Not sure if you are serious. Without going too far down the list I can tell you there are only a couple schools in "podunk" towns. Ohio State plays in Columbus which has a population of nearly 800K and is the 15th most populus city in the US. UT plays in Austin which has a population of nearly 900K and is the 11th most populus city in the US. USC is in Los Angeles. For a little perspective Tampa is 53rd most populus city in the US although the metro area is 17th.
  15. A better question would be what team has won 3 out of conference games against that list of teams since 2007. Because Ole Miss beat Texas and LSU last year and Auburn in 2012 so 3 of those teams in the past 2 seasons. Since 2007 they have beaten Texas, LSU three times, Auburn twice, and Florida.
  16. Just like I said, turnovers can be the great equalizer. The secondary blew what was a great effort by the defense and what should have been a win. I knew this was nowhere near a 26 point spread. The sad thing is we had the chance to keep our foot on the throat and keep the winless monkey on their back. Just imagine what the pressure would be like for them as the series progresses trying to still get that first win. I had originally thought it would take a couple more years to be competing with them, but after last night I think the game next year is ours.
  17. They have weaknesses. Houston forced key turnovers to stay in the game, Louisville and Rutgers both scored TDs on the punting unit. Keep in mind we beat Cincinnati without an offensive touchdown and UCF's defense has been known to fold like a tent when teams start moving the ball on them (see Temple). Straight up it is a mismatch, but turnovers and special teams can be the equalizer.
  18. I'm not sure how he is ranked the best when there are kickers that haven't missed a kick all year and FSU kicker has 40 more kicks on the year without a single miss. Yeah he has had more opportunities from 50+ (50-52 actually), but that is more of a function of the inept offense than anything else. No doubt I would trust him with a game winning kick from 50+, but the 50+ stat alone doesn't make him the best.
