I think he means next week will tell where more about where we stand in the conference. Lose to Tulsa and we could be looking at 2-10 or 3-9. Win and a bowl is a real possibility. It will be Tulsa's homecoming so I expect a tough game.

How many wins were we predicting last year sitting at 2-4 and 2-0 in conference? We are in worse shape this year at 1-1 in conference. The 2 easiest games have already been played. They were at home. We won by a combined 8 points. 4 off the next 5 on the road with games against Cincinnati, Houston, and Memphis. We better figure out how to get a win against Tulsa.

I'm sorry, but a 17 point loss to Wisconsin is a close loss? The Michigan State loss last year was a closer loss to a better team. The Maryland game mirrored the Cincinatti game last year where we played outstanding defense to keep us in the game. Only we lost to Maryland this year. Miami blew us out last year. NC State this year. 3 point win over UConn last year 3 point win over UConn this year. It remains to be seen how good ECU is this year now that North Carolina is exposed as a fraud, but we played 12-1 UCF better last year. On the road. The only difference I see is we actually beat the FCS team we played this year, and it was a big step down in quality from McNeese State to Western Carolina. To me a close game means a game we have a chance to win late. Wisconsin and ECU were not games we had a chance to win late.

Would be even nicer if this was remotely true. ECU statistically will be the best run D we will have played. They have allowed 106 yards per game which is 17th in the country. I watch their games. Teams don't run against ecu. . . . They fall for the okeydoke and get into a track meet. I'll bet you $200 we rush for more than 106. The announcer last week openly questioned why people don't run on their soft d. 93 yards. I'll pm you the address where you can send the check.

The measure of success is winning games. At this point last year we were 2-4 with a win over one of the better teams in the conference and a 3 point road win over UConn. We didn't win another game. This year we are 2-4 with home wins by a combined 8 points over a lower level FCS team and UConn. Everyone was taking the same moral victories after Michigan State, Houston, UCF, etc. last year. In reality not much has changed. We have an opportunity for more wins this year mainly because the conference has taken a giant step back not because the team looks improved.

If we can't get more than 17 against Tulsa, we might as well just pack it in for the season. They are ranked 125th in scoring defense and have held an opponent under 31 only once in the last 11 games. They have given up 42 or more 6 times in that span.

Add Maryland to the list as they shut us out in the 2nd half. Uconn we only scored 3 in the 2nd half but it was enough.

Sad thing is we have only scored 24 points 2 times in the last 22 games. Once against FCS Western Carolina and once against Cincinnati in a game where we didn't score an offensive touchdown.

i posted this in the game thread, but taggart has only won 3 second halfs in the first 18 games. 2013 Uconn by 3, 2013 UCF by 4, and 2014 Western Carolina by 6. That is not getting it done. This team has shown the talent to come out and hang with good teams, but once those teams make adjustments we fail to readjust.

3 points in the last 2.5 quarters. The ECU defense is not that good.
