If I was in charge of Navy football I'd think of staying Independent.

If crappy Army can qualify, imagine what the Middies could do to a 14 team SEC. You know the ACC will count them too. Free ticket to major paper!

USF should have gone independent in football instead of obliterating its fledging brand by joining the sac mishmosh of losers

If you were in charge of Navy Football people would wonder, why does he have a turkey on his head?

It's an Oregon Duck from our Sun Bowl game... Get it right, keep it tight.

If my choices were stay independent or join the American Athletic Conference I would've stayed Independent. At least it brought a respectable team to our conference unlike many of the other additions.

The difference is if they stay Independent, teams from the P5 confernces will want to schedule games against them and they will have an awesome SOS and play against marque teams.

If they join the AAC, they will have a weak SOS and very limited chances of playing P5 teams because the conferences are moving in the direction mandating fewer G5 games and clearly the selection comittee is giving more weight to the strength of non conference scheduling. Watch and see how many big time football teams will schedule games against Army and BYU now that they are considered quasi-P5. The rest of us chumps stuck in the AAC will just fall further down the rat hole.
