Attendance down: Actual attendance for the football team's season finale Friday against UCF at Raymond James Stadium was 27,368, according to the Tampa Sports Authority.

Now for the bleak news: Only three times in seven home games this year did actual attendance eclipse 20,000. The average — 19,317 — was USF's worst since 2001 and represented a decrease of more than 1,000 fans a game from '13 (20,379).   http://www.tampabay.com/sports/colleges/courtney-williams-and-usf-women-aim-for-new-heights/2208681

So much for filling the stadium Willie.

While it is a combination of both, I do wonder how much is due to losing vs. the perception that USF has been relegated to the minor leagues (as some have reminded us every instance they get).  The losing part is obvious but I suspect the figures would be less than stellar even if USF was in the running to win the AAC.

I think its the losing part over the AAC part. Way over.

Do you really think USF could get over 50K for an AAC game like they did Big East games?  I doubt it. (Outside of the UCF game)  Probably 40's at best.

This is not denying losing's contribution, just wondering how large the crowd really could be in today's environment.

I think if USF was only a 1 or 2 loss team by the time of the UCF game, it would be over 40k, sure. And if USF is ranked when one of the quality OOC games area at Ray Jay, yes, over 50k.

While that is a 100 plus percent increase over this season's reality, it would still be disappointing.  Unless FSU or UM visit, I think the days of over 50K may be done.

We need to build a 37K OCS, with room for expansion (if we ever need it)

I know you are economically savvy so I am glad you offered that before I could ask as  that was the question I thought of. The balance of being large enough but not too large.  Seems like a decent number.
