USF non-conference opponents ALL lost this week... and Tulsa lost the only non-conference game by an American.  Our opponents only won when playing other opponents.

Presbyterian 19 - Western Carolina 14
  > Catamounts had five turnovers, including four interceptions -- and the Blue Hose game winner was a pick-6.
  > Record: 3-2 (1-0 Southern)
  > Next up: vs Woffard (Sat @ 3:30)

Ohio State 52 - Maryland 24
  > The Terps QBs three four INTs and allowed more than 500 total yards.
  > Record: 4-2 (1-1 Big Ten)
  > Next up: BYE

Clemson 41 - North Carolina State 0
  > The Wolfpack were shutout by the Tigers, with Brissett going 4 of 18 for 35 yards passing.  They could not sustain a drive, with 9 punts (3 of 14 on 3rd down) and three fumbles.
  > Record: 4-2 (0-2 ACC)
  > Next up: vs Boston College (Sat @ 3:30)

Connecticut  - BYE
  > Record: 1-4 (0-2 AAC)
  > Next up: @ Tulane (Sat @ 8:00pm)

Northwestern 22 - Wisconsin 19
  > The Badgers could not pull it out.  McEvoy was benched after going 4/10 for 24 yards and an INT (the backup threw 3 more INTs).  Gordon still had 259 yards rushing.
  > Record: 3-2 (0-1 Big Ten)
  > Next up: vs Illinois (Sat @ Noon)

East Carolina 45 - Southern Methodist 24
  > The Pirates held off the Mustangs, but
  > Record: 4-1 (1-0 AAC)
  > Next up: @ South Florida  (Sat @ 7:30)

Colorado State 42 - Tulsa 17
  > The statistics for the game look fairly even - except for total yards, as CSU racked up more than 500 yards of offense despite having the ball for 10 minutes less than the Golden Hurricane.
  > Record: 1-3 (0-2 AAC)
  > Next up: @ Temple (Sat @ Noon)

Memphis 41 - Cincinnati 14
  > The Tigers held Cincy to 3 of 12 on 3rd downs, forced 2 turnovers, and had the ball for more than 40 minutes - including a 12:55 23-play drive to end the game.
  > Record: 2-2 (1-0 AAC)
  > Next up: @ Miami (FL) (Sat @ Noon)

Central Florida 17 - Houston 12
  > O'Korn was benched in an ugly game, but the Cougars had a chance to win until a Ward fumble on the 1/2 yard line gave the win to UCF.
  > Record: 2-3 (0-1 AAC)
  > Next up: @ Houston (Sat @ 6:00pm)

East Carolina 45 - Southern Methodist 24
  > SMU scored more points in the first half today, than the first four games total.  They managed to convert 5 of 6 4th downs, continuing scoring drives.
  > Record: 0-5 (0-1 AAC)
  > Next up: BYE

Memphis 41 - Cincinnati 14
  > Cincinnati could not stop the Tigers, allowing 600 yards of total offense.
  > Record: 3-2 (1-0 AAC)
  > Next up: vs Houston (Sat @ 6:00pm)

Central Florida 17 - Houston 12
  > Holman was 6 of 18 (33%!) passing and UCF only managed 228 total yards... but the Knights only needed 25 and 8 yards to score 10 points thanks to 2 INTs.
  > Record: 2-2 (1-0 AAC)
  > Next up: vs Brigham Young (Thu & 7:00)

----------------------

My own personal "who cares" AAC rankings for week #6:

1. East Carolina (4-1, 1-0)
2. Memphis (3-2, 1-0)
3. Temple (3-1, 1-0)
4. Cincinnati (2-2, 0-1)
5. Central Florida (2-2, 1-0)
6. South Florida (2-3, 1-0)
7. Houston (2-3, 0-1)
8. Tulsa (1-3, 1-0)
9. Tulane (1-4, 0-1)
10. Connecticut (1-4, 0-2)
11. Southern Methodist (0-5, 0-1)

The AAC is 21-30 after 6 weeks - that is 15-29 out of conference.  I will get a lot of criticism for this - but watching these teams, USF could beat any of them... of course if the team that played NC State shows up, USF could lose to any of them.

I still think USF manages to go at least 4-3 the rest of the way and gets to a bowl game.

Or a bad week if you look at all of the upsets...

It was a WILD week, with #2, 3 & 4 falling.  Plenty of other losses in the Top 25, so we'll see some new faces in the Top 25 (including Marshall & maybe Kentucky).

Cincy QB Kiel was knocked out of the Memphis game, and will be "out a while", per Tuberville.  Not sure if he's back in time for our visit, but that's worth watching.

Curious if anyone recalls:  Did we chase 6'7" Memphis QB Paxson?  He looks impressive, and out of Deltona, with that size & upside, don't know if UCF or USF chased.  Before he started turning that team around, they sucked big time.  QB can have this affect.

Only other offer per Rivals was Florida A&M.

Memphis is going to be tough with a good offense and good defense.

relegation has demoralized usf, uconn and cincy. . . . At least three of the CUSA add-ons are better teams

however, I thoroughly enjoy watching those smug jerks at cincy get exponentially worse each passing week. Looks like they found their skip Holtz in Tommy tuberville

What a conference!

"We are a power conference, pure and simple, that's what we are,'' - Mike Aresco. Hope he's gone to the Dr to get checked out.
