USF cited in state audit for paying Skip Holtz $2.5 million

So it appears that states are trying to reign in not only the high salaries of college coaches but administrators. That's great. But what's bad is how schools skirt the rules. And arguing that someone like Saban is worth big bucks because he brings revenue makes no sense when compared to what the players get.

Nonsense! The state has zero to say over the total compensation packages of coaches, or administration...only what comes out of state funds.
Not nearly the nonsense that the growth in D1 coaches salaries are outpacing the growth of top CEO salaries.

Supply and Demand. Probably demand for good D1 coaches relative to the supply has also out paced that of top CEOs

Not a perfect system. Obviously its an inflated salary in most cases. And when things are so out of whack you have corrections, like when the stock market takes off and then has a correction. Consider Holtz a correction. If you want to pay huge salaries, you have a chance to get burned sooner or later, don't complain about it.
