New on-campus stadiums aren't free...but most of the big buck donors/friends of the Univ, etc....all seem to want to pitch in to get UH a new on-campus stadium...as they had to replace their 60 year old HS stadium (yes, it was initially built to host HS Football games), and almost all of their alumni didn't want the team to play permanently at the NFL Stadium (Reliant, which is an amazing facility), located just over 5 miles away from their campus.

Alumni/sponsors seem to open up their wallets when new on-campus facilities are built.

So that's why all UCF could build was it's el' cheapo Wok!  UCifer's opened their wallets and not much came out.

Well, at the same time BHNS was being built on UCF's campus, UCF was building the below facility, which opened up just 6 days prior to BHNS opening up...as UCF became the first Univ in over 70 years to build a stadium AND a new arena at the same exact time:

UCF Arena (now CFE Arena) opened up to the public on Sept 9, 2007.

BHNS opened on Sept 15, 2007

What you obviously don't know and something Triple B doesn't want anyone else to know is that UCF became the first Univ in over 70 years that built an on-campus stadium and an on-campus arena at the same time.

UCF's Arena opened up 6 days prior to the football stadium...as UCF used funds wisely to build 2 badly needed facilities at the very same time.

Trip and GAUSFBull, this is the kind of nonsense I am talking about. It just irks me. USF doesn't even have a stadium yet and our fans make these kind of dumb statements that seem so childish. I mean, at least wait until USF builds something that is hopefully better than in Orlando before ragging on their stadium. I don't want anything like they either, but if USF gets a similar stadium for more money, it would be embarrassing.

Need I remind you that this a ******** USF fan board. What the hell do you expect?? If you want unbiased opinions, go find a generic college sports board ........................................ please!

Biased is fine. it's the sophomoric comments that make the fanbase look like a bunch of clueless middle schoolers with green and gold goggles. It gets embarrassing. Yeah, I don't think anyone at USF likes UCF's stadium but they have one. Some vendor makes an error on a shirt and wow, UCF is a bunch of idiots because of it. I wish USF had a bcs game invite to make a shirt for, no matter if it's misprinted. People talk about how classless Rutgers and UCF fans are and I am starting to see the same thing of Bulls fans and I don't like it, one bit.

The stadium is a dump.  Chain link fencing keeps the students in their sections like animals, fittingly perhaps.

Not sure what you are talking about...there is a walkway around the entire stadium...that goes right thru the student section...and no, there is not a chain link fence that separates UCF's student section vs season ticket holder sections...its called an open aisle.

So,  you're patting your back for poor planning.   Why did it take so long to get your arena?   USF's Sun Dome opened 29 years before your arena.

Since you were probably not even alive at the time, back in the late 1970's, the State of Florida (when it was legal to use state funds to build sport stadiums/arenas at Univ) approved two inflatable roofed arenas: The $9 Million, 11,000 seat O'Connell Center at UF and the $7.9 Million 10,000 plus seat Sundome at USF.

Both of those Univ had a lot more clout than UCF, as UCF had just opened up their doors less than 10 years prior (1968 classes were started).

I just wonder if the architect or builder, who is going to do the new Falcons stadium and did the new Meadowlands, told the UCF admins that the stadium seating will be as bouncy as diving boards. If not, I'd have sued. It gives the stadium a negative image.
