As expected:

Florida Atlantic learned about "other violations of university rules" with Carl Pelini in light of his resignation Wednesday over illegal drug use, athletic director Pat Chun told CBSSports.com.

FAU received multiple reports of drug use and violations of university policy early this week, Chun said, leading to the resignation of the Owls coach, as first reported by ESPN. Defensive coordinator Pete Rekstis also resigned for his involvement in the school's investigation.

When asked about the exact nature of the other violations, Chun declined comment because the investigation was a human resources matter.

"Once people came forward, once we had facts, what I went to Carl and Pete with were facts," Chun said.

Pelini said in a statement Wednesday, "I apologize for exercising poor judgment."

Two whistleblowers approached the athletic department with alleged evidence of drug use by the coaches. Pelini resigned once told by Chun of the reports. Chun told CBSSports.com that incriminating pictures -- think Larry Eustachy -- were not involved in the investigation.

When asked if the case would have been handled differently if Pelini were 20-0 instead of 5-15, Chun said, "No, I would hope it wouldn't (have)."

My translator says:

"human resources matter" = sexual harassment, discrimination or something of the like.  Just a guess obviously.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
