The timing for us to have "down years" could not have been worse.

Let them hang their hat on beating the worst USF team ever, and get it out of their system. And right now, other than RU and UL, no one is heading for greener pastures. But, even with that UCF has beaten 1 ranked team in their entire history which was an overrated University of Houston team. They've had a football program since 1979. If they beat us in our worst season ever so be it. We continue to get better recruits even with what happened last year and what is happening this year. We have to fix this quickly though or UCF will pass us with recruits, and their program overall.

I'm not sure we're all using the same definition. Some measures are permanent, while others are temporary. I'm confident we'll return to and possibly improve upon our former glory. Our program is barely a teenager. I'm not inclined to be melodramatic although of course I hate to lose as much as the next guy...

Syracuse had a group of bad years and pulled out of it - and even then weren't very great - proving it was more than a sport's prowess that determined conference affiliation. UCF hasn't officially passed us. College football is cyclical. They started in 1979, and thus were ahead of USF by default until 2002 when USF went to C-USA and they were in the MAC - which at the time C-USA was a better "perceived" conference. If anything USF passed UCF and while it may be true that they have passed us this year so far (looking at win/loss records), as a program, UCF will never be an FSU or UF, and neither will USF. There will be years both teams will suck, there will be teams both will be great, and there will be teams one is great and the other isn't. And that's just one sport. Facilities at both schools are new and comparable. To keep harping on schools passing us is dumb, college is a constant ebb and flow, so forget what the others are doing and just focus on your own.
