Just curious, but why did last year's coaching staff keep it a secret and operate after the season rather than operate right away? Seems to me they risked putting him in an even worse situation if he compounded the injury.

 

I would assume that part of it is that the staff did not want to give away secrets to the opposition.  But I do recall comments throughout the season that seemed to kind of blame Giddens for his lack of production.  Maybe the staff thought he wasn't really that injured.  I recall when Forte took the starting role it sounded like a jab at Giddens.  It was all strange to me because he looked like a monster early in the opener, and then totally disappeared.

 

Maybe he and the defensive staff didn't get along.

 

Whatever, I hope to see a great season out of him this year.

On paper, this is one of the greatest D-lines in the country.  Should help out with our young defensive backfield.
