So here’s a thought for the Group of Five — the MAC and the independents, the Sun Belt and Conference USA, the Mountain West and the American Athletic Conference: Toss out from your tent those high ‘dolers’ and create your own 16-team college football playoff.

March Madness is the greatest three-week ride in American sports. December Delirium might be pretty thrilling as well.

I think its something to bat around. Pool the bowl games the G5 have and turn them into a playoff.

Nothing beats the playoff atmosphere of the battle for 67th place.

except of course the self-loathing pessimism of a BullsPen wiseguy.

the best team out of the non-power conferences would not be 67th... ask Boise, TCU, even NIU if winning their schedules got them "67th place" LOL

True. Except that in the system we're talking about (not the one they've been playing in) none of those teams gets a BCS game to end the season and none of them gets a sniff of the rankings throughout the season. Look how much respect the FCS champ gets for its accomplishment.

that is why mazza plan would work

create a new league

new rules

break away from ncaa

pay the players

allow immediate transfers

no stupid rules on recuiting

non big 5 must change playing field to compete with big 5

You can't pay the players unless you pay all scholarship players, or at least an equal number of female scholarships or you'd be in violation of Title IX.
