Honestly you aren't going to get any "new" fans there, but if the Spring game is made into an event where people can tailgate, schmooze and be merry you will find more than enough people to go.The free booze/catered event would likely double the price of the day (from 20k to 40k), but you got to look at a team like Louisville that is jumping into the Big East feetfirst for you lessons. They took a 58k ad out in the NY times and hosted a 40k free for all in St. Louis for the Final 4. If it takes a sponsor to pull it off -- do it -- but USF needs to take these opportunities (spring game and 5 home games) and make the most of them. They have a great product to sell -- sell it. This year’s game will feature pre-game tailgating and live music. We are taking our in-game experience to a new level in 2005, and you will get a sneak preview of that on April 16thâ€Â, USF Associate Athletics Director Tom Veit said.  This year’s spring game will also be marked by the appearance of Big East Commissioner Mike Tranghese. Tranghese and a delegation from the conference will be making their first official visit to Tampa for the game. What happened to the following?Pre-game tailgatingLive musicFall football atmosphere taken to the next levelIs any of this still planned? Thanks for digging that up....I forgot about his quote.  It will be interesting to see if it really happens or it is the same old drill.  Spring games are hard to sit through...limited contact on the QB, not knowing whether to cheer for the green or white, no Band, no Dolls to entertain...somehow I've wondered if a school like UF who draws 40K for a stinking spring game does something differently.  Maybe they could teach our fans a new chant, the words to the fight song, the Alma Mater, something.  We have disjointed fans, although they do know the words to the chant, "USF".  I think a lot of the people who come to the games have trouble feeling like a Bull because there's nothing to pull them into the "family" through a stupid common bond.  As an example UF fans sing "We are the Boys from Old Florida" at the end of the third quarter....every game, everywhere they are.  It's unity.  It's up to somebody in the university to come up with these things, right?  How does it happen? I think, given the pub so far, it will be better than in previous years.Tailgating: last year the lots opened early and we had plenty of time to tailgate. Is that what you mean, or do you think the university should foot the bill for all the free food and drink you can consume for three hours piror to watching a scrimmage? Entertainment: I'm guessing that there will probably be more of that available this time around, if it is being treated more as an "event" than just the game itself.Tradition & Attendance: We have a season ticket base of under 20K, so we're going to see less than 20K right off the bat. Comparing USF to UF is apples and oranges. Just being brutally honest, but it's going to be a few more years before USF football garners that level of interest. Remember, the swamp is filled regardless of whether it's Tennessee or Louisiana-Lafayette. We have yet to peg the lower bowl. Who is responsible for this? Us ...the fans....all USF has done thus far is lay a foundation. It's still a building effort.... 8)
