No one outside of our fan base cares about USF. UC has been to a BCS bowl, which created more attention their  program. Same for UCONN. Teams aren't afraid to play us because they might lose. They're afraid to play us because no one would give a ****.

Our last notable win will be 2 years ago this fall.

Last season we had wins over Tennessee-Chattanooga, Nevada and UConn.

We have 2 conference wins over the last 2 years.

It was so bad that we fired a coach a year after we extended him even though we now pay him 500K a year to coach elsewhere.

But yes, BYU, Boise, Michigan, et.al. are scared of us.

BYU and Boise are not P4 teams. They might schedule us. We should ask.

What part of "We're going to find it VERY difficult to schedule P4 teams from here out" do you not understand?

No upside for them, and HUGE downside. They don't want to play us.

Based on what evidence? We must be the only school in Division 1 with this problem.

Here is a link to our future schedules. There are a list of scheduling headlines at the link I copied below. Since FSU in 2009, not one interesting game scheduled outside of Nevada. And that's marginally interesting. Just because the "P4" won't schedule us because their allegedly so scared doesn't mean we run to fill up on 1-AA and ODU, especially where half our new conference mates are that caliber anyways. We do not need to load the schedule so far out with this crap because those teams can all be scheduled a year or two out. Georgia southern and Appalachian state are going 1-A too. Plenty of low level scheduling available in the future.

We saw an increase in attendance when we had a 'favorable' home schedule. People will show up to watch 'big time' schools . We all know that marketing this program, henceforth, is going to be a bit more uphill due to the current P(5) exclusion. If we, the core fans, are less than enthusiastic about our conference foes, the meat-n-taters of the schedule, we should at minimum have some measure of excitement in our OOC games...even if they're away. The flip side of that risk management coin is that this is a team that beat Notre Dame, Auburn, etc. Regardless of how our conference performance panned out, I can see where P(5) schools would be hesitant to double down and risk getting Appalachian Stated. And as it is now, if we could get home losses to Penn State, Maryland or South Carolina, would that necessarily be a bad thing? I mean, it'd be nice to win, but it'd also be better on several levels to test our mettle against P(5) schools and test the turnstiles. Now, the nut is to just convince them...

...

EVERY non-P4 school has to deal with this problem now, not just USF

All the P4 schools have to include SOS for their shot at the 4-team championship

So 1AA schools are a thing of the past. Instead, they're going to warm up against 1 non-P4 school, have 2-3 P4 OOC games, then 8-9 conference games.

The ONE non-P4 slot in their schedule isn't going to ANY teams with giant-killer histories. It's going to safe victories like UCF, UCONN, or Cincy that have yet to prove they can make ANY noise outside of conference play.

Sure, all three have won their conferences. And all three conferences were **** in terms of P4-level quality. And all three have shat the bed in OOC play.

We, on the other hand, have shat the bed in-conference over and over, but have knocked off several OOC giants. Add in the fact that we only draw 27 fans to away games and 27,000 at home, and NOBODY in the P4 wants to schedule us. No upside, huge downside. This is the reason we're not hearing about any good OOC games - they're not returning Doug's calls.

Therefore we're stuck with CUSA-level opponents AT BEST. Sux, but that's the way it is. Learn to enjoy it.

Q.E.D.? Ha. What are you going to say when we actually schedule someone worth scheduling? That they were brave enough to schedule USF?

Running out and jamming the schedule 4-5 years out with this **** screams lazy, nothing else.
