love the stars do not matter and they throw out a few names of people who werent highly ranked. Well sorry guys. The top programs are getting elite players year in and year out and they stay in the top 25 for the most part. Im going to guess its better to get alot of high ranked players than get 1 or 2 like we do and then they dont pan out and you say stars dont matter. Its stupid and you know it. Tell Alabama stars dont matter.

That isn't the point. The point is that there are more great players than scholarships at a handful of schools, including players that are overlooked. The current Big East record holder for most combined yards was 2 star, unranked Matt Grothe. And you look at those programs that get high ranked classes, like Miami, North Carolina, Ole Miss, UCLA, Washington, Clemson, Virgina or Tennessee. These are consistently top 30 ranked in recruiting but on the field? Its more than stars, especially when these players are under or over ranked.

Agree stars are really for kids who attend respected college camps bc that is where they get seen by ratings agencies,, Having said that almost all schools you used in your example above sans TN and the U went to respected bowl games last year so yeah I would think your odds are better with a top 20 class year in and out,,

Not to mention if a recruit is rated highly and then commits fairly early to a school like lowly USF, their stars often drop.  While if they're rated 3 star and UF offers, they shoot up to 4 almost automatically.  It's just more of the same from college football...rigged for the big boys with everyone else looking in.

Took his sweet time? The first thing he did when he was hired was to start recruiting. You do realize WHEN we hired him right? This guy has been on the job for a little over ONE MONTH. That's why his staff was put together so "late", he was ON THE ROAD recruiting...you make it sound like he put his feet up at the LRS building. And a Top 20 class? You realize we went 3-9 last year right? and 5-7 before that? In a crumbling Big East Conference? With a program running on zero history, the "what have you done for me lately" attitude is tenfold.

That is why I said reality bites. Just because USF is in Florida some think that means auto top 25. When was Miami last ranked? Look at UCF, FAMU, etc.. Its just one thing out of many that is needed to be a true top 25 program. Lots of great things need to happen to get USF to the top echelon.

We finally agree on something :) lol

But those are schools with top recruiting classes year in and year out. Go and check. How many times has Clemson had a top class just to get beat down? They should all be top teams, winning conference championships or at least contenders for them but it doesn't work that way.

Clemson just beat LSU in most likely the best Chicken bowl ever,,, Tajh boyd is staying for his senior year and they will most likely be in in the top teir next season..

I beleive without a doubt and I will bet that CWT feels the same way that USF can be a powerhouse with all these D1 recruits growing up here,, USF > Louisville,, USF > Pitt

USF > Wisconsin,, etc etc..

haha clemson frequents the top 10 and has big time athletes on the field and puts them in the nfl. You must be joking who cares if they get blown out at the end of the season it doesnt mean your garunteed to win every game...LOL..stars dont matter..Lets get consecutive classes with all 4 star players and a few 5's here in there and see if our program doesnt turn around real quick haha. Some people man just so stuck in their ways like to say things like stars dont matter. Then you throw out the example of George Selvie..and Matt grothe..and so on..of course the sheer numbers would tell you there are suprised and busts..A bust is not a big deal when your recruiting big time players. It is a big deal when your USF and your banking on that one player.
