  1. Not sure if srs... Asst AD. Great guy. Bleeds green and gold Reaves is a huge upgrade over Weiner,, he was the QB coach and recruiting coord for Spurrier and then at Tennessee - go in a sticky recruiting violation at Tennessee but have to putthat on Kiffen who is a slimeball. Something about lady hosts and visiting out of state recruits,, very glad to see him on this staff. He will birng in a lot of talent next year and after.
  2. looked weak to me.. pass defense, no sacks, inteceptions, forced fumbles If we can get our pass rush fixed, get sacks and hurries the DB stand a better chance at interceptions and turnovers. As I remember this years game agaist FS at Raymond James. They tore us a new A**** passing to the middle of the.. field....thery were running first two downs and then just pass on third for the first down... Zone coverage.. FS completing on the short crossing route on the zone seams. The final score could have been much worse. Very disapointed as a bull at that game We have 7 + 2 back counts left to sign or just 7 left,??
  3. That isn't the point. The point is that there are more great players than scholarships at a handful of schools, including players that are overlooked. The current Big East record holder for most combined yards was 2 star, unranked Matt Grothe. And you look at those programs that get high ranked classes, like Miami, North Carolina, Ole Miss, UCLA, Washington, Clemson, Virgina or Tennessee. These are consistently top 30 ranked in recruiting but on the field? Its more than stars, especially when these players are under or over ranked. That isn't the point. Agree stars are really for kids who attend respected college camps bc that is where they get seen by ratings agencies,, Having said that almost all schools you used in your example above sans TN and the U went to respected bowl games last year so yeah I would think your odds are better with a top 20 class year in and out,, But those are schools with top recruiting classes year in and year out. Go and check. How many times has Clemson had a top class just to get beat down? They should all be top teams, winning conference championships or at least contenders for them but it doesn't work that way. Clemson just beat LSU in most likely the best Chicken bowl ever,,, Tajh boyd is staying for his senior year and they will most likely be in in the top teir next season.. I beleive without a doubt and I will bet that CWT feels the same way that USF can be a powerhouse with all these D1 recruits growing up here,, USF > Louisville,, USF > Pitt USF > Wisconsin,, etc etc..

  5. These coaches are big upgrades over Skippys staff,,, I dont see the defense doing anything but playing with more discipline and better technique. Maybe in better shape? we will see how the S&Ccoach does that is always a crap shoot it seems. Will it just be the three defensive coaches then? possibly combining salaries to get three better coaches rather than four or five lesser ones?
  6. how many scholarship offers can USF use to sign players this year? Anyone know?
  7. Yes CWT was slow to hire a staff who could have been out there recruiting along side him,, DC was the main hire and should have been one of his first so any defensive recruit would know who he might play for and see what the scheme is going to be and whether the recruit even likes the DC or not,, I am way over the Big East and ready for this school to start knocking on the door of much higher grounds and goals than the Big East,, My opinion is we can become the Boise State of the Eastern US and play in BCS Bowls many times with our recruiting state and the high level of excellent HS players we have within 100 miles of Tampa. I thought Leavitt took us as far as he could get us and Skippy was just a plain bad hire.. I think CWT has a fantastic reputation and being local should have gotten a head start on recruiting and no I dont expect him to sleep until after signing day,, he is getting seven figures to win not work 10, 12 hours a day. He can hire a staff and still see recruits,, no prblems,,
  8. Now on the positive side,, RIvals shows us with only 15 commits so far,, I dont know how many scholarhsips we have to give but it would seem to be that we have room to get some nice talent in this mix if still available and looking,, We can turn this class around,,,
  9. I hope CWT got the staff he wanted because he took his sweet time getting it together in time for a decent class this year,, IMO there is absolutely zero reason why USF would not be in the top 20 in ranked classes every year if they got out and started working these high schools in Florida.. There is something like 200-300 D-1 players that come out of Florida Every year and some of these kids heading off to Pitt, Louisville, Rutgers, etc... should be closer to home,, WE should be getting a good mix of three stars that have been evaluated and some 4 stars with even an occasional five star. If the program can take off like a Boise State we will have conferences calling us,, Is the AD up to the task here,,?? Woolard came from St.Louis U,, so not sure if he is the right guy for the job to help get the program where it should be,, I have a lot of faith in CWT 's ability to coach and get a team together,, but this last month getting a staff together was like watching paint dry,, I put that on the low salaries he had to work with,, USF has to step up on their pay scale and get some decent assistant budgets.. Give the man something to work with. IMO Woolard is making this whole process more challenging than it should be.
  10. Except its pretty much over for this year recruiting wise,, I dont think we are going to flip many guys from their top choice at this point,, Ithink the hire could have been made 32 weeks ago and this hire might have had an impact on schoolarships for this year,, we will see He wasn't available 32 weeks ago...this year is a wash. But don't think for a second that just his hiring hasn't brought some attention to our kids and others. yeah misprint on the 32,, I meant even two weeks ago he might have had some effect on recruiting locally by now kids are into their final three visits to their favorite campuses,, so I agree this year is a wash but most likley might not have been.. We had plenty of time to recruit but getting this staff in place which is not done yet is taking a long time.. Put that on Woolard (SP?) the AD as our coaching staff budget needs bumped up significantly so we can start playing with the big boys,, like Papa John says "better salary,, better coaching"
  11. Hes going to need all the help he can get becasue Tubberville is up in Cincy now with some of his old Auburn coaches,, he will be the toughest opponent we face in the formerly big east..

  13. Did you read the last sentence in that article,,maybe I skipped over this on an earlier post but it says the Catholic Schools leavng may have the Rights to the Big East Conference name and so what is not the Big East confeence may have to get a new name. The amount being offered for basically basketball (lacrosse maybe as well?) on TV was staggering, Thanks for linking this
  14. ---------------------------------------- Stu Holt has been hired on the offensive side (or ST), and Ray Woodie on the defensive side. Exact duties for either have not yet been identified. I think that leaves one more on offense, two for defense. There should be a total of nine. The recruiting coordinator position is an office position that does not go on the field. Actually the recruiting coordinator is another way for a coach to pick up alittle extra jack,, usually the secondary coach or the Wide Receivers position as they have more time on their hands,, It is a coaching staff respnsibility. And they do have assistants tohelp them that are not ont he staff. At lest in D-1 ball.
  15. Has NFL experience and very important already been a DC in the NFL,. Cant really hold Cincinnatti and Oakland against him those years either,, I think I can get behind this guy,, he does not have a lot of recruiting experience for quite a while now,, but does have GT staff experience and Florida shold be easy to recruit in - except for Skippy.. Welcome aboard Coach - you are three weeks behind so keep your bag packed and go get some Beasties!
  16. Remarkable but I checked the Rivals Recruiting rankings and we are tied with UCF at #65,, this despite a coaching change , not having a staff,,no DC, If CWT had a staff a few weeks ago I hate to think where we might be in the rankings with talent.. Hope this long wait is worth it in recruiting and on the feild,,
  17. Signing day is what, a month out? The DC should already be on board,, who wants to sign with a team where you dont even know who your position coach is? Is this year shot with recruting? I have to confess I expected better,, CWT can find an ex D-1 GA to coach receivers, an up and comer no problems with that,, but the DC should have been on board by now,, what is the scheme? How will that affect the interested recruit? Is the interested recruit really wanted by the DC --I.E., HIS GUY. . The clock is ticking here for this year and the lack of a hire is very curious,,
  18. Hi guys first time poster ,, been reading for a week or two and have season tickets to the the Bulls,, REally excited to see Taggart come back home to coach and look for great things in a few years,, Does anyone know what the pay scale is for DC with CWT? It looks like we are having a hard time getting even a linebackers coach hired for the DC position... IMO that is a major issue with USF Football - the pay scale for coaching,, What can he pay his DC? What is Weiner making?
