During half-time, one of the ESPN announcers stated that an undefeated BE team should not even be in the discussion for the championship game...what is everyone's opinion on this? If that is true, does USF pull back on football funding and concentrate on other sports we have a chance to win it all in...assuming that is always the ultimate goal.

Agree...the National Champion is just that; the best of the best! No way Rutgers or Louisville is anywhere near the team as Bama, Oregon or Florida. And the history the BE has had in the BCS games the last few year (WV is out) proves it.

This is why the NFL is superior to college football. While I doubt Louisville or Rutgers could actually win a playoff, the fact that they are eliminated already without losing is stupid. Plenty of people thought New Orleans at Green Bay was going to be the NFC championship game but fortunately, they actually have to earn it so instead we had New York at San Francisco.

the Giants and Packers past 2 years proves that momentum is HUGE!

Strange topic, isn't that the point behind going to a playoff format?

That is ridiculous. Just because an undefeated BE team can't make a nat'l championship this year does not mean we should pull back funding that will affect the program for years to come.

Don't be so shortsighted.

I don't think a Big East team will ever be allowed to sniff the NC game unless we can get some good marketing or the playoff system expands further.

Face it - the Big East is the conference of also-rans. The best of the small-time, sometimes-we-have-a-good-season-and-pretend-we're-important-too conferences. There was a time it looked like we might have been able to break out of that mold and actually become a relevant team on a national scale. but it was not to be. Maybe in another 20 years.
