I hope all this chaos isn't a distraction for the coaches and players. I wonder if Coach Holtz is second guessing his comments Re: the Arkansas job.

Nah. Pitt was always going to leave after the 2012 season. The replacement teams are in place. This is merely about how much money they will pay, nothing much else to see here.

I wish the Big East would just implode. This league has been a mess from the beginning.

It's time for the basketball and football schools to split.

They split and we're an even bigger overall joke than we are now ...

Despite AA's purported change of heart about the NBE, I don't know if we can be perceived as 'bigger joke than we are now'. With the 'Big Five' tightening their grip on the Championship and major bowls - the conference is going to be perceived the same or worse regardless.

The BB schools add nothing to the football side of the equation and, through their control in and of Providence, have repeatedly undermined our ability to expand and grow as a FB conference.

The hybrid model doesn't work.

IMO, the solution is to cut our losses, split and team up with the best of what's left in the east and midwest and form our own regional, all-sports conference. ND is not going to throw us a lifeline - let them put the rest of their sports with the Catholics and let everyone move on.

No surprise that Pitt (and Syracuse) would want to leave after the 2012-2013 season, but the timing is interesting. It lends support to the speculation that schools are ready to bolt the ACC and gives the conference some urgency to bring in its new members else their TV contracts become jeopardized. Much like with the BigXII.

Last I checked the scoreboard doesn't have a spot for current bank balance on it.
