RPI also updated today. USF is #16.

http://www.ncaa.com/rankings/softball/d1/ncaa_womens_softball_rpi

USF's records vs RPI

Top 25..... 3-1 (2 games remaining vs #9 Louisville)

26-50..... 6-1 (3 games remaining vs #26 Syracuse)

50-100..... 12-2

100-200..... 8-1 (11 games remaining)

200+..... 4--0 (1 game remaining vs #203 BCC)

So our worst lost is to #154 Fairfield. But we're sitting 9-2 vs the Top 50, unfortunately our two biggest series remaining are on the road at UL and SU. Also, our buddies at DePaul sits just ahead of us at #15.

Now I know RPI is not the end all be all when it comes to the NCAA Tournament selection, but just an idea of the teams in Florida, Georgia, and Alabama to see where we sit for Regionals. A lot of good teams in the region, hopefully we come out on top, hopefully hosting, and do not get screwed.

#2 Alabama

#3 Florida

#14 Georgia

#16 South Florida

#17 Florida State

#24 Auburn

#32 Georgia Tech

#33 Troy

#36 Central Florida

#44 South Alabama

#49 UAB

Well what could potentially happen with regional games is if we keep dominate and say there is UF and us left they will create two regions out of it even though we are close in proximity. It has happened in previous years and I can for see it happening this year because it will be tough to tell a team who could potentially have 40+ wins on a season to travel to a regional.

Hope to see a lot of fans come support the team this weekend. They play at 2 and 4 on Friday and at 1 on Saturday. I understand many will want to watch Rays Opening Day at 3:10 EST vs Yanks. I might even get to go to Trop if friend can get me free ticket.

What I'd be worried about is if Bama, UGa, UF, FSU, and USF all being in a position to host regionals, but the NCAA deciding that 3 regionals in the state of Florida is too many.

I know its too early to be worrying about something like this, but its just something in the back of my mind.

valid concern... I feel the same, but am hopeful that there is precedent in baseball. FSU, UF, and Miami have all hosted regionals on several occassions during the same year. Hope they look at who's deserving rather than how many from a particular state. I'm pretty sure California has 4-5 teams every year host regionals. The best thing the girls can do is win the Big East regular season and tournament title. That would make it very hard to deny them a host bid. Plus we beat UF and FSU head-to-head, so that could come into play... although UF beat us as well, it was in extra innings.

Sorry I'm changing the topic, but I see Baylor in there. Doesn't it seem like just a few years ago they were bad at almost everything? I wonder how they got so good so fast without committing some infractions?

Who says they haven't? I think a good number of people are waiting, like I am, for the NCAA to start sniffing around in Waco.

I didnt want to say it, but I thought the same thing. This has been an amazing year for them to say the least. Not accusing them of anything, but wow it is just nuts how much success theyve had this year.
