Why do you hope he reschedules? Auman's story was confirmed by more than one source... his mom is just covering. Duke Johnson is a solid commit to UM and was never coming to USF... ever... All he was going to do was get into of the ears of Price and our other recruits. This was the best thing that could have happened in this situation

Necause we need a RB and are obviously holding off on Gilmore becuase we are trying to land some better option. As to his intent, I kinda think Skip would have an idea if some 18 year old was trying to hoodwink him. Sure doesn't sound like you have much faith in our coaching staff.

No hoodwinking. All parties are aware of the quid pro quo. Probably not going to happen, though.

This from the party that was sure Keith Brown was to recommit to UM? How'd that work out, Miami?

And he may come back to Miami. Depends upon numbers and such, but...I don't see why Cristobal won't do his alma mater a favor and offer Keith's brother.

Could you please tell me what you are smoking? I actually went back and re-read the Keith Brown thread and had a nice laugh, since I NEVER EVER said what you have claimed. In fact, I predicted (accurately) that Keith Brown would be going to Louisville.

I never said that Keith Brown was "sure" to recommit to UM. I said that he wouldn't be going to USF. I spoke to the SPECIFIC REASON he was shopping around (trying to get an LoI for his less-talented brother). I said that if FIU offered, there was a good chance of Miami getting him back in the fold. But I never said that Keith Brown was "sure" to recommit to UM. I predicted Louisville.

So I guess this makes me...incredibly accurate when I provide information on Miami kids. Maybe...just maybe...I actually know a few people in Miami.

Trust me, boys, I'm not just another "random internet source". I don't BS about things I don't know about.

Bill, would you care to re-read the Keith Brown thread and provide the quote that gave you the impression that I ever said Keith Brown was "sure" to recommit to Miami?

Never said it. I think your memory is faulty. Sorry, bud.

So this quote from H.M. on 12/03/11 doesn't say what the words say????

"And he may come back to Miami. Depends upon numbers and such, but...I don't see why Cristobal won't do his alma mater a favor and offer Keith's brother."

Let me see if I understand.

You claimed that I said Brown was "sure" to recommit to Miami. The definition of "sure" is certain. At no point did I express certainty.

I said "MAY". The definition of "may" is might or possibly.

Now, after I posted this, YOU POSTED THE ITEM ON BROWN that put the chances of him recommitting to Miami at 80%.

After your post, I wrote this: "He will likely be choosing to go to Louisville. He made a comment about clearing the academic part with his mother. No need to do that for UM, the #38 academic school in the country."

So I'm in confusion as to why you are now claiming that I ever expressed that Brown was "sure" to recommit to Miami. I never did so. I always said there was a possibility. You even agreed with me, citing the 80% probability, which I never believed (I thought it was closer to 40% likely for him to recommit, since Golden had been recruiting other LBs). I was the one who correctly told you that Brown was most likely going to Louisville, even though you had posters on this board who were saying Clemson.

Not sure why you are trying to claim that I said something that I never said. Are you looking to discredit me?

I know you'd love to have Duke visit, but come on now. He's not interested in USF.

Favors. And I won't get more specific.

Oh wise one, we are forever in your thrall. Don't you guys have your own website?

yeah, it probably has nothing to do with our season and the sites instability of late. Come on. I guess all those shrinking lilies are choosing to avoid the site because their sensibilities have been so damaged by heated conversation. And I seem to recall, that you were the 1st to start down this spiral staircase today. I was just saying that their were conflicting stories on his scheduled visit and was hoping that a 5-star recruit would actually come for an OV. Are you still taking your grumpy pills?

Perhaps.

It's an open board. Fans of other schools are allowed to post. I provided accurate information and then I get a guy claiming that I said something that I never said.

Anyhow. I was trying to do you a favor by providing accurate info on the Duke situation. One guy didn't take it very well.

So here's a metaphor. Southshore26 and I start talking about Mons Venus, and about how BillReef has never gone. We try to do him a favor by saying that we will all go together and get him in, since he is underage. Southshore26 makes all the arrangements. In the meantime, I decide I do not want to go to Mons Venus. Later, I call Southshore26 and tell him "If I go, my wife will kill me," in the hopes that Southshore26 will still take BillReef to Mons Venus.

And the next day, Greg Auman reports that my wife threatened my life, even though he doesn't know me or my wife, has never spoken to us, and has no sources in my household who could accurately report what my wife told me, if anything.

Duke is not interested in USF. Just trying to be nice about it. Would be sad if y'all got your hopes up for nothing.

Outside of Bill, I don't think anyone who actually knew about the situation had their hopes up... other than him I know of noone else that thought it was a good idea to bring Duke here. He's been steadfast in his commitment to UM and we didn't need him running his mouth to our recruits.

That being said, the staff at UM did in fact advise him not to come here. Their not the first school to use that trick (we did 2 years ago with Biron Carnes) and they won't be the last... no shame in it, it's business.

As for you bringing facts.... please... the day you actually start speaking logically and factually here will be the first. You spout crap and when asked to stay on the state of FL board MULTIPLE TIMES you still refuse to.

Wonder what Freud would say about a Miami fan who used strip clubs as his metaphor. Hmmmm :D

There are many fine strip clubs in the tri-county area, I do not deny. I even knew of fraternities hiring local talent for rush parties. Not that I'm condoning it.

Don't be jealous. SoFla is like another world. Another very fun world.

UM isn't Stripper U. It's more like Dade is South Stripper County.

I have never once been told to "stay on the State of FL board". Please provide the proof. You must have me confused with someone else (probably that other Hurricane guy that used to post here).

I speak logically and factually every single time. You may not like what I have to say, but I am completely accurate. Ask around (but don't bother asking BillReef, he misquotes me).

UM did not, in fact, demand or require Duke not to visit under a threat of pulling his scholarship. Unlike you, I actually know UM coaches, I actually know family members of the individual in question. Unlike you, I know the reason why Duke set up the visit. Unlike you, I know the reason why Duke cancelled.

In your words, you claim that the UM staff did "in fact" advise him not to come. Not only do you not have proof of this, but there is no way for you to even establish it, as neither you nor Auman have a single source on the UM staff.

You don't know any UM coaches. I was classmates with one.

I know why Duke said what he said. Smart kid.

Finally, I would just note one thing that you said, you claim that you know that Duke "in fact" was advised not to visit USF. Now, is that the SAME or DIFFERENT from threatening to pull his scholarship? Because the pulling of the scholarship was Auman's claim.

I'm simply confused by your self-contradictory claims. You acknowledge that USF has no shot with Duke, yet you think that UM had to use a "trick" (your word) to prevent Duke from visiting.

Strange.

If, at this point, Duke has to be tricked or forced into sticking with Miami, then Golden hasn't done a very good job of recruiting, and Duke could easily be flipped by, say, UF or FSU or Clemson or Louisville. I'm sure they wouldn't mind landing a 5-star Signing Day Surprise.

Look at the totality of the evidence. If Duke has no desire to even possibly sign with USF, there must be some other reason why he scheduled a visit, right? And if UM coaches are threatening him, then the "reason" must NOT be "to recruit USF verbals", because our trickster coaches would actually want him to recruit for UM on his USF visit, right? Besides, if there was any REAL fear of that at USF, you would simply reschedule Duke for a different weekend from Sean Price, right? After all, which USF recruits do you think UM is targeting?

Once you set aside all of the highly unlikely reasons, you will eventually conclude that this was a very simple, minor issue, and that I do, "in fact" know what I'm talking about.

As much as I may not like a Miami guy trolling our recruiting board, I'll have to give the point to Mutiny on this one.
