In the D-III National Championship game on ESPN 2.

Matt Piloto, 6'6" 230 lb QB. Apparently was a walk on a few years ago. The announcers were talking about him and said he transferred from USF. Looked him up, and here's a pic.

Did some more digging, found this article. Says he was here for one semester, knew he had no chance of playing, and lost interest in football. Found his way at Mount Union about a year later.

He's been pretty average from what I've seen. Below average actually, but I don't know much about DIII QB'S.

Didn't realize there was a Division III...what is that FDS? FBS, FCS & FDS?

He found a place to play football for the love of the game.

Is is always a competition? Can we let the kid have fun and enjoy playing without trying to figure out how good he is?

Sheesh, he isn't trying to the get to the NFL or anything.

Matt Piloto, this Bud's for you!

Yes! It was the National Title game! I would say they were competing for something...

Don't know the new namings, but in a lot of cases DIII was better than DII. Coming out of high school, I know what I was looking at was I-AA or III schools. A lot of DIII schools are very good academic schools (I chose DIII Carnegie Mellon over DI Air Force back in my day). I would put money down that Mount Union could beat whoever is the new DII (whatever their naming is) champion.

There's BCS and then everything else is basically a different level of DIII football in that the nation follows BCS, only diehards follow the rest.
