If we make them stay for 27 months, won't that take them past the reevaluation period for the BE BCS qualification?  We will still have their points if they are still within the BE at the time of the reevaluation.  Correct?  Or does their new conference get the points even though they will still technically be in the BE ???

Probably wrong here, but I seem to recall that back when we were getting TCU, the points counted for both conferences.

I agree that we would lose status.  We would essentially be a fractured C-USA at that point.

I would be surprised that, if WVU leaves, they will remain for 27 months.  Probably will buy their way out of having to stay.  Everything's negotiable.

Did I miss something? Is WVU out?

You are not speaking the company line:  The fundamentals of our economy er, conference are strong.  Look, we are adding a bunch of teams!  More teams is automatically better so enjoy playing Middle Alcorn State.

WVU is going nowhere.  The Big XII is up to 10.  The SEC has indicated they are staying at 13.  The Big Ten is not expanding.

The next expansion will be the Big East growing to 12 for football - possibly next season.  Though I think the most likely outcome for next year is that Pitt and Cuse stay for 2012 and leave for 2013 while Navy joins next year.  Houston, SMU, Boise, Air Force, UCF, and, maybe, Temple (13 like the SEC?) come in for 2013, spending one more year in their old conferences.
