The reason games are delayed for lightning is to protect more than just the players. Lightning isn't going to decide to strike only the field of play.

Not that it would make sense to go ahead with the game even if it WAS only players at risk. You seem to think this is about rain. It is not. It is about lightning.

they have lights so it could restart pretty much whenever

i dont know if there is any precedence for that type of delay.  i would imagine they are going to do everything in their power to get this thing done tonight.

Notre dame playing on a Sunday?  Forget about it.
