wow that would be garbage if they did this.

It limits their speed as well.

I think you guys are making way too big a deal out of this.

Not if they play under those conditions every day in practice...

I would see it more of a traction/cutting issue than an overall speed factor.  Picking em up and putting em down shouldn't be affected too much.  If your guys are faster, taller grass isn't affecting anything other than the mental component.  It's more of a psychological factor for Notre Dame than it would be physical factor against USF.  We're going to have 4.4 guys no matter what unless the grass is above the ankles.

ND has always grown their playing surface really long, this is to be expected.

Don't they run the spread, and isn't their offense based on speed as well?

The grass won't matter.  Its the same grass when they lost to Navy, Pitt, Syracuse, UConn.......the list goes on and on.  It will be our execution on offense and pressure on defense that will win this game.  I like our chances.

Go Bulls!!

This is hilarious.  I thought the Trojans were the only fans that complained about ND's grass length.  Especially considering the fact that I don't see any significant difference in team speed between these teams anyways.

At any rate, ND is located in northern Indiana.  Once October hits, they let the field get longer and longer, because the grass stops growing in November.  Now there have been times where the grass has gotten torn up certainly (many ND fans + Kelly are pushing for field turf for this reason), but you won't have anything to worry about in September.

In other words, find something else to complain about.  You won't win/lose the game because of the grass....I promise.

Nothing new.  ND rigged the field conditions several years ago for the softball conference tournament (other schools complained as well).  Been held at Louisville ever since.

Kelly didn't have any trouble beating USF with "slow" Cinci players.  I'm sure ND has better team speed than Cinci.  Not sure grass length is an issue.

Not really about the field, but sort of related:

How are the officials chosen for a Notre Dame game?  Or for any independant for that matter.  Are the officials from a particular conference or are they homers or what?

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
