The team has improved considerably from last year... and the close losses do count for something.

Cincy is a great team that we match up horribly with.  Everyone on their team outsize us.  Bryant gave up 5 inches on the guy he was guarding - that a-hole Armein Kirkland.  We don't match up well with teams that are large... we just don't have the big bodies.  You guys keep thinking record is what is important.... NO... it isn't.... it is important that we get experience.  Last night was tough because we played against a top 20 team and we know we aren't that good of a team.  What the hell did you all expect?  Should we be able to compete, undermanned, against a top 20 team, that dwarfs us?  It would be nice... but expected... not right now.  When a top 20 team beats a top 200 team by 26 pts, is that crazy?  no... its common.  We don't have the personnel yet to compete with the great teams... well duh!

That doesn't mean we can't go out and play exciting basketball and win some games the rest of the season... give your young guys some experience, especially Dennis and Prek.  Get a grip

Huggins came in with a plan and executed it.  Our coach has NO answers.

Come on Velcro, lower ranked teams beat higher ranked teams all the time, especially on their home court.  That is what is great about college basketball.  Ranking is no excuse for a national TV embarrasment.

What happened to "we're not going to get blown out anymore"?

You recruit small players you're going to get banged around a lot.  BTW - Cincy will be one of the SMALLER teams in the Big East.  Scary.

velcro,

If you were sitting behind the basket near the USF bench, you must have went crazy on that terrible official. That guy was one of the worse I have seen. How can he miss Kirkland leg tackling Bryant down??

Huggins came in with a solid plan... that is the key... they got our best player in foul trouble early and kept attacking him... over and over.  They knew we had no depth in scorers.  Its tough to make adjustments to that.  Its tough not to get blown out when your top scorer/rebounder has 0 pts and a rebound.

Yes lower teams do beat higher teams from time to time.

All the time?  What the hell are you smoking!!!  no, not all the time.. and hardly ever do you see a team with 2 conference wins in 2 years go and beat a top 20 team.  Your expectations are way too high for this stage of our program.   Like it or not, we have to take baby steps, as there is no quick solution.  Just learn from the bumps.

absolutely... that was horrible... he was holding him down with his legs too.. and the f'ing ref was standing there a foot away watching... it should have been a fould or even a technical on kirkland.  It was intentional.

The ref obviously saw it as he stayed down that end of the floor while play went to the other end.

Gotta agree w/'Grip on this one except for the W's not counting.  To be within 13 or 14 with less than 10 minutes to go with our leadng scorer on the bench was an admirable effort vs a Top 20 team.  Coach needs to find away to get the double teams off of TL.  And TL needs to control his excitement and frustration.  He must realize his rebs are just as important to the team as his pts.  When the Bull big men get an O reb, they need to kick the ball back outside for the open 3 or 14' jumper once in awhile or just to reset the O.

GOOD:

-2nd level will be just as full when we're in the big East with all the big name programs playing in the Sun Dome.

You mean like it was last night vs UC, the 20th team in the country? Still lots of empty seats in the 1st and 2nd level.   We should be selling 3rd level seats vs teams like that.  We used to sell out those seats for teams a lot less inferior then uc.   Thanks to SG our bball program went into the trash.   People totally lost interest in this program in the late 90's to ealy 00's.  Expectations and hype was too great, and the accomplishments too poor.   A huge amount of regulars jumped off the boat , and the attendance the past 4-5 years reflects it.   Will bringing in Georgeton, ND, Uconn, etc on a yearly basis increase our attendance dramatically?  Nope!  OK, maybe a few hundred more per game maybe ven a thousand, but they wont come in droves  unless we beat those teams on regular basis.

Thanks for your input.  Everyone knows we need to get attendence up.  If you have some great ideas on how to do that (other than winning, which we all know will increase attendence), please share.  How many people did you bring or talk into going to the game?  Unfortunately, I live out of state, or I'd be there.  I would talk it up to my friends and try to convince some of them to come.

It has gotten harder and harder to convince people to come to the games, especially the smaller opponents.  I attend all home games, and usually bring 1-2 people.  I have four tickets but often come with just 1 other person, sometimes find another couple or a couple of friends, but like I said interest has dwindled over the past 5 years.

and yet, somehow... attendence has been trending upward, despite the product going downward a bit.  Credit the Student Bulls Club for their hard work there.
