Hate to beat a dead horse but USF needs and has always needed to hire a big name coach who kids know, can sell and coach.

ie Bobby Huggins or Steve Lavin.

Good for St. Johns, they will give me a big east team to root for in March.

yes because we know recruits are dying to play in front of 2k crowds. When USF fans start getting out to the games and support the team then I would take it more seriously that our recruiting is dead last.

I hear and read all the time that the fans are not going to start supporting the basketball team until the product on the court gets consistently better. In college sports recruiting is the lifeblood of a program. Poor recruiting normally leads to poor performances on the court. The question is how can USF fix the lack of support, the recruiting, and the product on the court if 1, 2, and 3 are lacking at the sametime?

The fans want to see a winner. The team can't consistently win without getting better talent. The coaches can't recruit because of lack of support. Can someone come up with an answer(s)?

Another one of those Catch-22's.  What big name coach could we afford to bring here and then, even if we could afford him, who would want to come here.  USF will never be a a basketball power.  Last year was the best this team can hope for except, maybe, a NCAA nod every 10 or 12 years.

The money being put into the program with all the upgrades will attract a Big Name coach. If the boosters and school are committed to winning by these upgrades they can afford to pay him. He then would immediately pay off like what's about to happen at St John's and Rutgers. Probably should throw DePaul in there as well.

It does absolutely no good to entertain these thoughts right now. BCSH's not going anywhere for, at the very least, a couple of years. We're coming off our best year in a decade or longer ... Stan's contract just got extended through 2015 ... Basketball players tend to be content to just transfer rather than try to get their coach fired. Stan's the Man for a while and these Fantasy Island type scenarios do nothing but stir up the unwashed masses .... evidenced by the dead horse beater.  :D
