You can't be afraid a player is going to get hurt.  You don't win playing scared and benching your best players.  The odds are stacked against Daniels and Landi both getting hurt.  It could happen if you only play Landi as a backup QB.

I vote that you put your best players on the field, and try to win games rather than try not to lose them.

Why wouldn't we want Gunsby to RS?  At least that way he's 2 years back from BJ...may be hard to recruit QB's if they are only one.  Like I said if BJ goes down, we will be in trouble regardless...let the walk on hand off and throw some short screens.  I'm not sure Gunsby will even be ready this year, it's not like he's Savage or that pretty boy at USC.

The walk-ons that I saw at that scrimmage early in the spring practice were not good at all. More specifically, they had NO arm strength or zip on their passes. Even throwing screens would be risky. Eppes looked slightly better in the spring game but not good enough. Gunsby, assuming he has more arm strength, would be a much better option. Not all back-ups are equal just because none of them have played.

Very well said.  I think the more interesting decision will be whether to redshirt Gunsby or not.  I think if BJ stays healthy you can redshirt Gunsby, continue to cross train Landi, and let Eppes get the mop up.

Landi really adds to our trick play potential.  Gunsby supposedly runs a 4.5, too, so maybe he could contribute this season as well even if he's not fully ready to be the #2 QB.

Regarding Mier (sp?) from Kansas, heard he died in a hiking accident . . .

Back to Landi, you don't have to bench him, just saying I don't feel great about a kid that never strapped on a BULLS helmet to be named #2. Obviously my feelings can change come Stoney Brook.

Actually, his brother died.

Kansas State's spring game on Saturday will be dedicated to former quarterback Dylan Meier, who died Monday in a hiking accident, coach Bill Snyder said Tuesday.

Dylan's younger brother, Kerry Meier, was one of several family members who were also on the hiking trip, a spokesman at Kansas said. Kerry was a record-breaking all-Big 12 wide receiver for the Jayhawks and is awaiting this week's NFL draft.

Kerry is hoping to get drafted this year. This guy is basically the prototype that Landi is going for.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
