Well, it looks like they found a way to cram them in under the wire.  I guess they had room for a ninth if one was deserving.

Nova, ND and the Ville all going to the South is a good omen for 9 teams next year though - they've finally broken their own rule about not having conf teams meet until the Elite 8.

yup,  that is good news.  1st time ever.  Wonder why they did it like that.  I went back 10+ years and the few times conf's had 8 teams in they were each in their own half of a bracket.

The Big East is the only conference to place eight teams in the NCAA tournament and the first time it happened was only three years ago.

Even teams with 7 bids were never structured in a way where they could meet before the elite 8.
