This is definitely what I'm looking forward to most.

Its also motivation for the backs, why work your ass off when you'll never get more than a few carries?

Anyone with insight on his style? I know he has been an OC, but does he run the spread or hybrid?

imo its a much more conservative spread...

holtz isn't afraid to go under center

looks like a run first spread, opens up for the short and intermediate passes. patrick pinkney didn't have a cannon arm like bj from what i saw, so there was never many super deep balls. they could move the ball, but they still relied on defense alot. their scores from their games though were consistently in the 20s and 30s so they could put up points.

i think with BJ under there, he gets his wish to be more of a passer, and use a primary running back.

i think holtz will for the first time, have a shot at the best talent he's ever had, and this could be his time to shine. open the playbook, use our speed/talent, and make BJ a real threat.

I hope he uses Kelly more. What a waste of talent by our former coaches'.

Also Pinkney is half the talent of BJ. It's really not even comparable IMHO. After he gets to see what BJ can do in practice Holtz will be amazed.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
