What is the general consensus on Tommy Bowden?

I recall reading somewhere that Tommy was enjoying not coaching,  while collecting a big check from Clemson.  He will have to give that up if he comes to us.  I'll see if I can find that article

Personnally, I think Tommy Bowden would a "solid" hire, not great, not bad either. The academics of the football team would probably improve and also the media perception. Tommy did have an undefeated season with Shaun King and Tulane so he has had "some" success although that was at the CUSA level.

I don't disagree but since Terry has a job that he claims he is happy with and Tommy is actively looking for a head coaching gig, I have a hard time believing Terry will interview. I would think if nothing else he will politic for his brother getting a look. I would do the same if it were my brother.

There have been a few rumors that Terry already interviewed and Tommy inquired about it. But it's going to be hard to wade through the rumors, half-truths, and lies.

I'd be happy with either Bowden, though not ecstatic.  Then again, I don't think there is a coach out there I can get too excited about.  We aren't going to bring in Urban Meyer or Brian Kelley.  So whoever it is will be a solid but unspectacular former BCS coach, or someone relatively unproven.  I'll leave the headache to Woolard.

people learn from their setbacks.  The bowdens can recruit Florida, and being in Florida is a goal for them.  Plus, with Bobby retired our school and the coach would get lots of attention, kind of like Holtz does.

I'd take a bowden and I think we would be able to get over the hump with them.

Remember, when he was in the ACC, FSU/Miami were pretty good.  NC State had some good years.  So having Clemson come in second or third wasn't too bad.  We have struggled to come in 5th or 6th, and we are closer to the top teams than when FSU/Miami/etc were killing it.

I'd take Bowden.
