Maybe Jim was remembering Albert Delvarado's 37 yard punt average and thought WTH?  Add that to Trent Guy's 60 yard punt return for a TD and suddenly going for it seemed to be the safer bet.

i hope not.  or else CJL really is a dumb coach like some people on here think.

at that field position you can completely take the returner out of the play by angling it out of bounds.  instead, we kick a 50 yarder which gives U of L an extra 7 yards of field position...when they already would of had good field position if we didnt convert the 4th down.

nice try brad...but your opinions are starting to sound as bad as richmonds but for the complete opposite point of view.

I'm sorry you find it so offensive that someone offers a different line of thought.  Just trying to offer "devil's advocate" things to consider.  If you'd rather own the conversation, that's fine with me.

I wasn't defending anyone or throwing blind support or anger at anyone.  Simply stating what had transpired prior to that moment.

My real opinion on the two situations you discuss are this.

The 4th and 2.  I would have run for it, not the pass.

The one at midfield I would have punted.

Not that it matters.  Sorry if that wasn't what you wanted to hear.

if owning the conversation and being offended by different lines of thought were things that were true about me i doubt i would of lasted this long on this site.

i am disagreeing with you and everytime that happens you pull the same response.  i can almost see the nose pointed in the air all the way over here in florida.

devil's advocate is one thing...but blindly defending everything to program does is worse than defending nothing.

carry on tho..

no...that is exactly what i wanted to hear.  i want to hear what you really think and what you really would of done.

not the 'PC' response cause you run a large USF message board you cant disagree with them...ever....

how about when you cited Alvardo's punting avg and Guy's 60 yard return as evidence for why we should of tried a 50 yr FG instead of going for it or punting it.

And I was never disagreeing with you, just offering possible thought process, stating the situations that led up to that point of the game.

Did that not happen in the game already?

You think that is "blindly defending"?

I guess I could have metnioned the 44 yard make, then I would have been Stevie Wonder!  :)

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
