ESPN's Lou Holtz, the former Notre Dame coach, doesn't have to be sold.

"South Florida, if they beat Miami later in the season (Nov. 28), I'd have no problem calling them the second-best team in Florida.

Gee thanks Lou, I guess.

Your saying if USF beats FSU and Miami in the same season that leaves us only behind Florida. Are you sure?

When I was a student, USF had a list of "peer universities" that matched their general status of a high-caliber research institution in a major metropolitan area. Cincinnati was on the list. (I can't remember the whole list but I think Pittsburgh was on it too, along with UW-Milwaukee and Wayne State in Detroit.)

Now the similarity is stretching to athletics too. It's getting to the point where the only big difference between us and them is we have more students.
