The Big East hasn't released their schedule yet.  It's hard to schedule OOC games when we don't even know what dates will be available.

The BE never releases their schedule until Dec-Jan.  We just have to assume the OOC games will be in September like 90% of the rest of 1A does.  Let's get this done.

BTW, for 2006 why not work out a deal with UCF to include that away game in our season ticket package so people are committing to 6 games, but we only need to schedule 5 home games.  This would give us a bit of room to get the 1 for 1's going and athletics would still feel like they sold a 6 game season ticket.  Athletics could still charge us $20-$30 per ticket but only pay UCF $10 - $15 per ticket on a 20,000 ticket guaranteed sale.  I can't believe anyone would not buy season tickets if they were forced to pay for UCF as the 6th game.

I also think we will host WVU in 2005. Since we're hosting Pitt this year, we'd probably play them away next year. Pitt and WVU are two schools where it's logical to alternate home and away, since they are very near each other (only about 75 miles).

So my guess would be that we'll host Cincinnati, Louisville, West Virginia in 2005, and host the other four Big East teams in even-numbered years.

Gary, I agree with your assessment of our logical Big East schedule for 2005.

Here is how I see the 2005 Big East breaking down:

This assumes that current and new Big East teams who play home games in 2004, will play road games in 2005 - and vice versa (see below).

USF - H: CIN, LOU, WVU; A - CON, PIT, RUT, SYR

CIN - H: LOU, PIT, SYR; A - CON, RUT, USF, WVU

CON - H: CIN, RUT, SYR, USF; A - LOU, PIT, WVU

LOU - H: CON, RUT, WVU; A - CIN, PIT, SYR, USF

PIT - H: CIN, CON, SYR, USF; A - LOU, RUT, WVU

RUT - H: CIN, PIT, SYR, USF; A - CON, LOU, WVU

SYR - H: LOU, USF, WVU; A - CIN, CON, PIT, RUT

WVU - H: CIN, CON, PIT, RUT; A - LOU, SYR, USF

I am posting this now, so I can see how correct I am when the schedule is officially announced.

NBE vs NBE in 2004:

South Florida hosts Pittsburgh

Connecticut hosts Pittsburgh & West Virginia

Cincinnati hosts South Florida

Louisville hosts Cincinnati & South Florida

Syracuse hosts Cincinnati, Connecticut, Pittsburgh, & Rutgers

Pittsburgh hosts West Virgnia & Rutgers

Rutgers hosts West Virginia & Connecticut

West Virginia hosts Syracuse

(so these will all be road games in 2005)

The final assumption is that the new Big East teams should be the ones with 3 homes games their first year (along with Syracuse because they have 4 homes games in 2004 against teams in the new Big East).

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
