For most, it pads the win total a bit, and also allows for rivalry games, etc. I know that could be done with only 10 games anyway, so your point is valid. You're only limited to the number of TOTAL games, which is 27 not including pre- and post-season tournaments.Then, I don't really understand this decision not to play 18 so everyone gets everyone each year.
