Fast forward a couple years and ECU's program has cratered and they are looking for their first win in three tries against a USF program that has not "paid it's dues""Print it"I look at it this way. Back in 2000, ECU wanted full C-USA membership, and didn't want USF's football program in the league. In 2005, that's exactly what they'll have. ECU cratered last season. They are moving forward with the new coach-- they are not an opponent we should ever take lightly.

With three of the final games at home, the Bulls have to get on a run against an East Carolina team looking to keep improving. The Pirates are young and already looking towards next year, but it wouldn't mind getting a few more wins to build some positive momentum. Why East Carolina might win: Explosions against UAB aside, this isn't normally a potent USF offense. It's able to generate points even though it doesn't gain many yards, so if the Pirates can somehow keep the game in the USF end of the field they should be fine. The Bulls don't go on too many long, sustained drives, but ...Why South Florida might win: ... this might be the game it does. East Carolina's run defense is among the worst in America and has a nightmare of a time getting offenses off the field. The Bull offense ripped apart UAB's defense in the second half last week; East Carolina's is even worse. USF has a renewed enthusiasm now that a bowl game is a real possibility.Who to watch: South Florida has had an inconsistent running game, but when it's rolling it's unstoppable. Junior Andre Hall tore through UAB for 275 yards and two touchdowns last week and had 200 yards and two scores against Army. He has been the offense's workhorse and should hit the 200-yard mark again against the porous Pirate D.What will happen: East Carolina has been horrible on the road and isn't going to turn things around now.CFN Prediction: South Florida 34 ... East Carolina 20 ... Line: South Florida -11.5Must See Rating: (5 lock yourself in a room to watch - 1 Country Music Awards) ...
