why cant people just do stuff because they feel like its the right thing to do?

Because some people feel like they are honoring God by giving credit to God instead of themselves.

It's the same reason a rapper will sing about killing people and treating women like objects while still saying "First off, I'd like to thank The Almighty...", as if God really wants to be associated with their songs...

why cant people just do stuff because they feel like its the right thing to do?

Because they've been brainwashed to not believe in themselves ... indoctrinated to think that there has to be a higher power making them do the right thing.

^^^ none of them were motivated by their lack of religion, if you really want to go there, we can start naming off the wars started by tyrants on behalf of their religions
