Mama you don't want Jacquez playing any QB.  I've seen him back their enough and he is no college QB, not at any level.  Just a tremendous athlete that needs to see the field.  He played some WR too, and ran more than he passed so the offensive side of the ball isn't completely out of the question.  I was shocked when I saw those passing yards in the times, I had heard it was closer to 1100...but he didn't even throw for 46% completion percentage.

With that being said Jacquez Jenkins could equate to one of our most underrated recruits.  He's highly respected but his skill sets are out of this world.

Well, we don't really know WHO will be our QB coach this coming year. Right now it's Gregory. I'm just concerned about who will be our #3 and am willing to give him a chance. I know he wasn't brought in as a QB and neither was Landi for that matter, but he seems to be our #3 at the moment. Virgin will get his chance to try out for a QB spot, but he's not a dual threat guy like we prefer using in our system. Anyway, it's nice to get players who can be utilized at many different positions.

I thought Virgin was offered by FSU as a tight end?  ??? I'm pretty sure he runs in the 4.7 range. That's not very fast but he could improve it and be a legit dual threat. However, I don't think he ends up at QB anyway.

Jenkins runs 4.35. If he runs that fast he wouldn't have to pass that much. Pat White proved that for a long time.

Anyway, we have a lot of options and that's a good thing. We ALWAYS have had a number of HS QB's playing at different positions.

For example, Armando Sanchez wasn't brought in as a QB and he threw the ball further than just about anyone. I expect he will end up being one of our best LBs.

HS QB's have "smarts" and understand football. Just look at that guy who played QB for Kansas against us the first time. He ended up becoming their go to WR.

I don't think Virgin ran a 4.7.  That would be pretty **** fast for a HS kid at his size.  He may end up at TE for us unless he really starts to shows something in practice.

Rivals liists him "Dual Threat QB" at 4.86.

Scout lists him "TE" at 4.81.

Here is what ESPN has to say about him:

Isaac Virgin | ATH Hometown: Fort Pierce, FL

Virgin looks great on the hoof and combines good size and athleticism when projecting for the college level. Is very tall, thickly-built and has good foot-speed and mobility for his size. Very raw in his delivery and overall mechanics as a quarterback prospect but he has a live arm, shows good downfield strength and throws very well on the run and off-balance. Will surprise you with his deep ball accuracy and ball placement over the top of coverage. Improvises well when the original play breaks down and moves well outside of the pocket. However, we feel he would be more of a project behind center and at this time may project better at tight end. Has adequate hands, extends well away from his frame and is just a load to take down in the openfield when his big body and long stride gains momentum. Frame could still add another solid 10-15 pounds of good bulk improving his yards after contact production and in-line blocking skills. Show he will mix it up in the trenches and makes solid contact blocking down and turning out defenders on front-side runs. Athletic enough to seal off the edge and effectively reach block. Does lack great burst out of his cuts as a route runner and overall speed after the catch. More effective on out and drag routes, but he can find the soft spots in zone defenses. Overall, Virgin brings a lot of natural talent and physical tools to the table as a prospect. Shows good potential if developed at quarterback and could potentially fit in at a few different positions on both sides of the ball, including outside linebacker, if the transition to quarterback is not a smooth one.

Jenkins does everything except march in the band on Friday night. He is physically impressive; a tall and lean athlete that is exceptionally skillful. It doesn't matter if he's playing safety, wide receiver, quarterback or return specialist; this guy is indeed a big play maker. As a safety he is quick on run support and is a physical tackler; flies to the football and hits like a locomotive. Displays a great break on the pass; not only is instinctive but alert to the receivers in his zone. Tremendous leaping ability and timing when going up to make the interception. As a receiver, has the soft hands necessary to make the difficult receptions. Runs good routes and can adjust to the football. When playing quarterback has a surprising good touch on the football especially for a guy who plays other positions. Especially impressive on the intermediate and shorter routes. Very dangerous running quarterback to the opposition. Possesses very good speed and a real burst when sprinting out or running the sweep. Reads blocks well and is elusive in the openfield; every run has a chance of breaking all the way. Shows the same running talents as a return specialist; tough to tackle or outrun. Jenkins has few if any weaknesses athletically. He has all the makings of a big time player at the next level.

Notes

Also recruited by Illinois, Wake Forest, Central Florida, Kansas, Indiana...

We are pretty darn close to getting Griffin Webster and Hosley...and I think we might get all three.

I dunno man Webster seems like a lock to go to Miami, he would be a huge surprise.  I feel pretty good about the other two though.
