He also built the Miami program, and won a NC, before he got to UM, the University almost shut down the football program. The previous coach prior to HS was Fran Curci, who left UM to coach Kentucky. Now that is food for thought! And as for HS being below CJL, how can you put a coach that has won a NC below a coach that has not, come on I love the Bulls too, but HS is head and shoulders above CJL. Antagonist Posted December 27, 2008 Group: Member Topic Count: 0 Content Count: 5,249 Reputation: 342 Days Won: 2 Joined: 10/09/2007 Share Posted December 27, 2008 IMO, FAU is the class of Florida's mid-majors.they are absolutely better than FIU, and i would argue they've been better than UCiF the past couple years as well.that puts USF in a unique position amongst Florida's schoolsThe "Big Three":FloridaFSUMiamiThe other Florida BCS school:USFThe Minor Legaues:FAUFlorida CentralFIUthere's no question at this point, IMO at least, that we are better than Florida's mid-majors and probably better than the vast majority of mid-majors throughout the country [save for the occasional exceptional teams like Boise, Utah, TCU, etc. which i think would be toss-ups vs. USF]but aside from a handful of big [really big] wins in OOC and conference play, we've done nothing to establish ourselves as deserving of a seat at the table with "the Big Three."next year we have a shot at getting our foot in the door when Miami comes to visit. Impressed the heck out of me down there last year with the jacket and tie in mid 90's and led his team to a couple of missed field goals from beating us. He is a great coach; Miami, Louisville and now FAU (not that they are nat'l championship caliber yet - but a nice young program).
