Congrats to FAU. When do we face them again?

Of course... if he only stuck to one school, he'd be at the Level  of Bowden, Bryant and Paterno as far as name recognition goes..., as is, he's probably below one Jim Leavitt in that category.

Food for thought.

I know it was over 20 years ago but my man has a National Championship, plus he rocks a suit in 90+ degree weather and looks like a  well (better) groomed Santa Claus.  And to top it all off his name is pretty awesome.

He out coached the Central Michigan team.  Very interesting game to watch.

HS played at Kentucky under the Bear and his name is in the ring of honor at commonwealth stadium.  He also built the Miami program, and won a NC, before he got to UM, the University almost shut down the football program.  The previous coach prior to HS was Fran Curci, who left UM to coach Kentucky.  Now that is food for thought!  And as for HS being below CJL, how can you put a coach that has won a NC below a coach that has not, come on I love the Bulls too, but HS is head and shoulders above CJL.

yup.

matter of fact, i wouldn't mind seeing Shnelly wearing a green suit w/ gold tie on the sidelines at RayJay on saturdays, but that's just me.

IMO, FAU is the class of Florida's mid-majors.

they are absolutely better than FIU, and i would argue they've been better than UCiF the past couple years as well.

that puts USF in a unique position amongst Florida's schools

The "Big Three":

Florida

FSU

Miami

The other Florida BCS school:

USF

The Minor Legaues:

FAU

Florida Central

FIU

there's no question at this point, IMO at least, that we are better than Florida's mid-majors and probably better than the vast majority of mid-majors throughout the country [save for the occasional exceptional teams like Boise, Utah, TCU, etc. which i think would be toss-ups vs. USF]

but aside from a handful of big [really big] wins in OOC and conference play, we've done nothing to establish ourselves as deserving of a seat at the table with "the Big Three."

next year we have a shot at getting our foot in the door when Miami comes to visit.

I love this guy as well.  Impressed the heck out of me down there last year with the jacket and tie in mid 90's and led his team to a couple of missed field goals from beating us.  He is a great coach; Miami, Louisville and now FAU (not that they are nat'l championship caliber yet - but a nice young program).  A friend from that area told me last night that the FAU heads of state sought him out before deciding to start a program.
